Job description

Project Manager in Delhi | The Hans Foundation
The Hans Foundation

The Hans Foundation is a public charitable trust set up in 2009 to build a fairer society and improve the quality of life for people who have been left out. It works on health and wellbeing in remote and under-served places, with special care for children, persons with disabilities and women, and it also supports education and livelihoods. Its work is focused on aspirational districts and high-poverty areas across the North, North-East and East of India, along with urban programmes for low-income and migrant families. In fifteen years it has reached more than 35 million people, running projects directly on the ground and supporting other non-profits with management and monitoring help. This role sits within THF's Hans Wellness Centre project, which partners with schools serving children from economically weaker families to provide diagnosis, treatment, counselling and prevention for their physical and mental health.

Role

The Project Manager owns the planning, delivery and day-to-day running of the Hans Wellness Centre project across its school locations in Delhi NCR. This means making sure children get good care at every centre, that the team is well led, that medicines and equipment are always in place, that money is spent well, and that schools, health professionals and government partners stay closely involved.

Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end implementation of the Hans Wellness Centre project across all assigned locations in Delhi NCR.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, milestones and implementation strategies.
  • Monitor progress against agreed objectives and deliverables, spot operational problems and act on them quickly.
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess centre performance and the quality of services children receive.
  • Monitor the availability and proper handling of medicines, consumables, medical equipment and other resources.
  • Lead, supervise and mentor the project team, define their responsibilities and Key Result Areas, and support their growth.
  • Ensure the right staff are deployed in the right places and resolve team issues as they come up.
  • Plan and track budgets monthly, quarterly and yearly, and monitor spending against approved amounts.
  • Coordinate procurement of medical equipment, medicines, consumables and infrastructure in line with approved specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor assets, inventory and vendor performance.
  • Coordinate with school authorities, healthcare professionals, vendors, government representatives and senior management, and resolve concerns raised by any of them.
  • Establish and track project performance indicators, and ensure project data is collected, analysed and reported accurately and on time.
  • Prepare periodic reports, presentations and management updates, and support audits, assessments and project reviews.
  • Identify risks and gaps, put mitigation measures in place, and document best practices and lessons learned.
Requirements
  • A relevant degree, with a minimum of 8 years of work experience after completing it.
  • At least 3 years of that experience in project management or coordination within the social development sector.
  • Exceptional candidates outside these limits may be considered.
  • Experience in a high-functioning consulting environment is preferred.
  • Experience managing projects in a school setting is preferred.
  • Ability to handle the full range of project management work, including design, planning, implementation, data management and reporting.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and office software such as MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the city.
  • Willingness to make occasional visits to the Regional Office in Delhi and the Head Office in Gurugram.
  • Comfort working with schools, healthcare professionals, vendors and government representatives.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team and hold it to clear standards.
  • Careful attention to documentation, compliance and organisational processes.
  • Lead a project that directly improves the physical and mental health of school-age children from low-income families.
  • Work with one of India's larger charitable trusts, with fifteen years of experience and reach across more than 35 million people.
  • Take full ownership of a project, from planning and budgets through to delivery on the ground.
  • Build close working relationships with schools, health professionals and government partners across Delhi NCR.
  • Grow within an organisation running programmes in health, education and livelihoods across many states.
