Job summary

Corning in Pune, MH, India seeks a Project Manager for DCBU Enterprise & AI Datacenters to lead end-to-end fiber-centric data center projects. The role covers planning, governance, vendor coordination and customer liaison from initiation to closeout.

The ideal candidate holds a BE, has 6–9 years in PM for data centers, and demonstrates strong communication, negotiation, and CXO-level engagement skills. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent.
• 6-9 years of project management experience in data center/campus projects.
• Willingness to travel frequently on short notice.
• PMP or equivalent qualifications are an added advantage.
• Excellent communication skills with internal and external customers.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with limited supervision.
• Ability to connect with CXO level decision makers.
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills aligned with sales objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end management of fiber-centric data center projects (DCBU Enterprise & AI Datacenters).
• Manage structured cabling deployments (fiber optic and copper) and governance artifacts.
• Coordinate with design teams, customers and vendors to capture requirements.
• Develop project plans, schedules, WBS, and communication plans.
• Lead contract discussions, SOWs and price negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with Corning standards and industry norms (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC).
• Supervise contractors and service vendors; manage risks and mitigations.

Role Purpose

This incumbent should be a highly motivated Project Manager – DCBU to lead end-to-end execution of fiber-centric data center network infrastructure projects, including AI Datacenters

Key Responsibilities

• Manage structured cabling projects across all lifecycle phases: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
• Lead deployment of fiber optic and copper cabling systems, including high-density and pre-terminated solutions.
• Collaborate with design teams, customers, and stakeholders to gather telecom and cabling requirements.
• Develop Project plans and schedules, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Communication and governance plans.
• Coordinate the setting up of overall project governance (e.g. project org charts; roles & responsibilities, RACI charts, communication / stakeholder management) required for each assigned project.
• Act as the primary point of contact for customers.
• Should be able to present and articulate: design solutions, installation methodologies and operational concepts.
• Conduct regular customer reviews covering scope, risks, issues, and progress.
• Manage and coordinate cable contractors, installers, and service vendors
• Ensure adherence to: Corning installation standards and Industry standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC).
• Lead contract discussions, including SOW preparation and price negotiation.
• Ensure proper implementation of: Fiber optic systems (SMF/MMF, MTP/MPO) and Testing protocols (OTDR, certification).
• Validate design compliance and installation quality.
• Implement and drive Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Manage Project risks, prepare mitigation plans and change management and approvals.

Experiences/Education - Required

• Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent
• Min 6-9 years of project management experience in data center/campus projects.
• Willingness to travel frequently at short notice based on project location.
• PMP and/or other equivalent level technical qualifications will be an added advantage.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels with both internal and external customers.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks with limited supervision.
• Ability to connect with CXO level decision makers.
• Display social maturity and willingness to handle extraordinary workload.
• Good commercial & negotiation skills with ability to understand customer requirements and present appropriate solutions in line with sales and business objectives.
