Job Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing environmental projects from inception to completion, overseeing planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and coordination of project teams to ensure delivery within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements; coordinate with stakeholders to define requirements, goals, and success criteria.
- Develop project budgets and forecasts in collaboration with finance and accounting teams; monitor expenditures, track budget performance, and implement cost control measures.
- Identify project resource needs and allocate personnel, equipment, and materials; coordinate with department managers and team leads to ensure resources are available.
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams, including environmental consultants, engineers, technicians, and subcontractors; foster a collaborative environment, set clear expectations, and empower members to achieve project goals.
- Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement contingency plans to minimize impact on outcomes.
- Develop project schedules and timelines, identify critical path activities, and monitor progress against milestones; address schedule variances with corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations; implement safety measures, conduct risk assessments, and promote sustainable practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with focus on environmental studies or project management.
- Prior experience in project coordination, project management support, or related roles; especially within environmental consulting.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, facilitate communication, and resolve conflicts.
- Experience monitoring budgets, tracking expenses, and allocating resources effectively; familiarity with financial reporting and cost control.
- Understanding of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and compliance standards.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing project requirements, priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
