Job summary

L&T's Tower Incharge at site oversees execution of high-rise tower construction, ensuring compliance with drawings, safety norms, and schedules. You will coordinate with contractors, planners, QA/QC, safety and MEP teams to drive timely inspections and handovers.

With 8–14 years of experience in high-rise construction, you will mentor junior engineers, optimize resources, and enhance stakeholder confidence through disciplined execution.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in tower execution, contractor coordination, safety systems and stakeholder interaction.
  • Proven ability to read drawings and specifications and enforce quality standards.

SECTION II: ROLE SUMMARY (Purpose of the Role)

The Tower In-Charge is responsible for execution, supervision and control of construction activities for the assigned tower. The role ensures compliance with drawings, quality standards, safety norms and project schedules while coordinating with contractors and cross-functional teams.

SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES

Financial / Functional Perspective

  • Control execution costs and reduce wastage and rework
  • Optimize manpower and material utilization
  • Support achievement of billing and milestone targets
  • Improve productivity through effective supervision

Customer Perspective

  • Deliver assigned tower as per committed timelines and quality
  • Coordinate with consultants and customers for inspections
  • Resolve site-level issues and escalations
  • Enhance stakeholder confidence through disciplined execution

Internal Process Perspective

  • Supervise day-to-day construction activities for the tower
  • Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and safety norms

Minimum Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering

  • Experience in tower execution, contractor coordination, quality and safety systems, and stakeholder interaction.
SECTION V: TECHNICAL & LEADERSHIP / BEHAVIORAL SKILLS REQUIRED TO EXECUTE THE ROLE

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of various construction types (RCC / Steel / Hybrid / MEP / Finishes / Precasting / Erection / Tunnelling / Marine Work / Fabrication / Formwork / Piling / Roadworks, etc., as applicable), methods, materials, techniques and trends to effectively plan and manage construction projects and optimize resources, ensuring safety, and maintaining quality standards
  • Ability to understand project/package requirements and accurately determine/ forecast the anticipated costs by evaluating materials, manpower, equipment, vendor and overhead expenses keeping in view market realities and historical data from past project deployments to prepare a detailed estimate plan (or ACE plan, as applicable) that informs budgeting and financial planning
  • Ability to understand and utilize advanced software in use across process/ project lifecycle to effectively carry out the functional responsibilities and improve usage and adoption of such tools (existing and new) across teams, aiding with enhanced project planning and execution
  • Ability to apply knowledge of architectural and engineering drawing standards with respect to Drawing Control Index (DCI) to read, analyze, and interpret various types of technical drawings, including blueprints, schematics, detailed drawings, GFC drawings and shop drawings to understand design specifications, dimensions, materials, and construction methods essential for successful engineering design, project planning and execution
  • Ability to utilize knowledge of time management, prioritization techniques, and stakeholder availability to efficiently plan, schedule, and coordinate meetings (including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items), as well as manage travel coordination, ensuring maximized productivity, minimized conflicts, and seamless execution of daily operations
  • Ability to understand project/package requirements and create baseline project schedules using relevant tools (such as Gantt charts, Critical Path Method (CPM), and PERT charts, Primavera, Microsoft Project, etc.) based on agreed milestones, historical data, constraints, resource productivity, and availability of resources in order to plan and track project tasks and milestones, and identify dependencies
  • Ability to capture and interpret data to identify trends and actionable insights on bottlenecks and inefficiencies and guide decision-making by using relevant analytical tools and visualizing data to prepare detailed update reports and dashboards on key KPIs

Leadership / Behavioral Skills

  • Ability to systematically assess the project's progress and outcomes (such as scope, schedule, resource utilization, costs, compliance) against the plan using relevant tools and templates, and determine the cause and impact of any deviations (attributed to both internal and external factors, as well as concurrent issues) to facilitate informed decision-making and implement corrective actions that align project outcomes with objectives within the framework of the contract
