Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced Substation Engineering professional in Vadodara, Gujarat, to act as engineering authority for projects and tenders, delivering complete engineering assignments in line with contract specs and quality standards. You will prepare layouts (substation, grounding, lightning), cable routings, BOMs, and evaluate vendor offers, coordinating with project teams and clients.

Strong CAD skills (BIM Tools, Navisworks, AutoCAD/MicroStation, Revit) and IEC/IEEE

Qualifications

• Bachelors Engineering in Electrical field.
• 2–15 years experience in substation tendering and project engineering (technical & commercial).
• Proficiency in CAD design tools (BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, MicroStation / AutoCAD, AutoCAD REVIT).
• English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare substation layouts and section drawings, grounding and lightning drawings, cable routings, BOMs.
• Coordinate with Engineering Manager, Tendering, Project teams, SCM, and customers.
• Review vendor offers and assist in FAT/SAT as needed.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and quality standards.

Job Description:

The opportunity:

Engineering authority for projects/tenders with low to medium complexity. Execution of complete engineering assignments on small, medium or large projects/tender cost effectively and in accordance with contract specifications and quality standards. Based on technical specification from end customers and inputs from OU Engineering team, prepare Substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design, drawings, Cable routings, Bill of materials, RFQs, vetting of vendor offers, hours estimation, visit to project sites, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation etc. Coordinate with Engineering Manager, Engineering Leads, Tendering team, Project managers, SCM, Secondary and civil / steel design functions, consultants, end customers etc. and provide required support in each Project / Tender.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Primary Engineering Deliverables. Experience in handling complete Engineering deliverables for AIS & GIS projects, Exposure to International experience & Standards IEC, IEEE & AS

• Substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design, drawings, Cable routings, Cable tray routings, Clearance drawings,etc

• Understanding of auxiliary design aspects of substations, such as LVAC / LVDC supplies, Cable sizing, Battery & Battery Charger Sizing, etc

• Technical data sheets verification of primary equipment. Knowledge of primary equipment, such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, power transformers, etc

• Vendor Offer evaluations. FAT / SAT of primary equipment, system as and when needed.

• Technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation Innovative ideas to reduce Engineering effort.

• Plan, implement, review and continuously improvise quality system & follow Opex initiatives.

• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• Bachelors Engineering in Electrical, have 2-15 years experience.

• Minimum 2-15 years exp in Knowledge in substation tendering and project engineering activities (technical & commercial).

• Proficiency in required CAD design tools (BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, MicroStation / AutoCAD, AutoCAD REVIT, 3D competence). Knowledge of relevant international standards ex. IEEE, IEC,etc.

• Individual contributor using in-depth knowledge in a specific area to execute complex or specialized projects / challenges often thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions.

• Dynamic and Proactive, willing to grow in the organization. Team Player, ready to play the role across the different countries. High level of ownership.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality digital solutions.

• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
