Responsibilities

• Manage daily construction activities for the data centre project and coordinate with civil, structural, MEP, electrical, and data centre system contractors.
• Review contractor submittals and maintain project documentation including RFIs, site instructions, daily reports, photos, and as‑built records.
• Monitor progress against the baseline schedule and prepare progress reports; develop recovery plans as needed.
• Conduct inspections to ensure QA/QC and safety standards; coordinate testing and commissioning of critical systems.
• Coordinate with IT infrastructure consultants, vendors, and installation contractors for seamless data‑centre integration.
• Serve as on-site liaison between JLL, Adani stakeholders, design consultants, contractors, and authorities.

The Project Engineer will support the execution and delivery of the Adani Data Centre project in Dholera, working under JLL's Project and Development Services division. This role requires hands‑on involvement in managing day‑to‑day construction activities, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and ensuring project objectives are met in terms of quality, schedule, and budget for this critical mission‑critical facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Construction Management & Coordination Manage daily construction activities for the data centre project, ensuring work progresses according to approved schedules and specifications. Coordinate with multiple contractors and subcontractors including civil, structural, MEP, electrical, and specialty data centre systems contractors. Conduct daily site walks to monitor work quality, progress, safety compliance, and adherence to project standards. Facilitate coordination meetings with contractors to resolve interface issues and maintain workflow efficiency.
• Technical Documentation & Submittals Review contractor submittals including shop drawings, material data sheets, method statements, and equipment specifications for compliance with design intent and project requirements. Track submittal status and ensure timely review and approval cycles to prevent delays. Maintain comprehensive project documentation including RFIs, site instructions, daily reports, progress photographs, and as‑built records. Prepare and distribute meeting minutes, site inspection reports, and progress updates to project stakeholders.
• Schedule Monitoring & Progress Tracking Monitor construction progress against the project baseline schedule and identify potential delays or critical path impacts. Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports detailing completed activities, upcoming milestones, and schedule variance analysis. Coordinate with contractors to develop recovery plans when schedule deviations occur. Update project schedules based on actual site conditions and communicate changes to the project management team.
• Quality Control & Compliance Conduct inspections of ongoing work to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards specific to data centre construction. Coordinate with the QAQC team to ensure proper testing and commissioning procedures for critical systems including raised floor, cooling infrastructure, power distribution, and fire suppression systems. Verify that materials delivered to site match approved specifications and maintain material traceability records.
• Budget Management Support Track and monitor project costs by reviewing contractor invoices, payment applications, and change order proposals. Assist in preparing cost forecasts, budget variance reports, and expenditure tracking documents. Identify potential cost‑saving opportunities and value engineering options without compromising project quality or functionality.
• Data Centre‑Specific Coordination Coordinate installation and testing of mission‑critical data centre infrastructure including UPS systems, generator sets, precision cooling units, electrical distribution equipment, and monitoring systems. Ensure proper coordination between raised floor installation, cable management systems, and equipment placement. Facilitate coordination between IT infrastructure consultants, equipment vendors, and installation contractors to ensure seamless integration of data‑centre systems.
• Stakeholder Communication Serve as primary on‑site liaison between JLL project management, Adani stakeholders, design consultants, contractors, and local authorities. Communicate project status, issues, and requirements clearly and promptly to all relevant parties. Participate in client meetings and site walkthroughs, presenting project progress and addressing concerns professionally.
• Regulatory & Statutory Compliance Ensure all construction activities comply with local building codes, Gujarat state regulations and statutory requirements applicable to the Dholera Special Investment Region. Coordinate with local authorities for inspections, approvals, and statutory clearances required during construction. Maintain updated knowledge of special requirements for data centre facilities including fire safety, electrical safety, and environmental compliance.
• Site Safety Management Support the project safety team in implementing and monitoring site safety protocols and procedures. Participate in safety inspections and toolbox talks to promote a safety‑first culture on site. Ensure contractors maintain required safety equipment, signage, and emergency response procedures. Report safety incidents and near‑misses promptly and participate in incident investigations.

Required Qualifications

• Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline required. Minimum 4-6 years of experience in construction project management or site engineering roles. Prior experience with data centre, critical facility, or industrial construction projects highly preferred. Experience working on large‑scale infrastructure projects in India required.
• Technical Competencies Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and coordination for multi-disciplinary projects. Knowledge of data centre infrastructure components including power systems, cooling systems, raised floors, and cable management. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and electrical drawings. Familiarity with construction contracts, specifications, and standard industry practices.
• Software Proficiency Proficient in MS Project or Primavera P6 for schedule tracking and analysis. Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation. Experience with project management software and document control systems. Knowledge of BIM coordination tools (Navisworks, BIM 360) is advantageous.
• Professional Skills Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple work fronts simultaneously. Strong problem‑solving skills with ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Effective communication skills in English and Hindi (knowledge of Gujarati is beneficial). Detail‑oriented with strong documentation and record‑keeping capabilities. Team player with ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multi‑cultural environment.
• Regulatory Knowledge Understanding of Indian building codes, NBC provisions, and local regulatory requirements. Familiarity with Gujarat state construction regulations and Dholera Special Investment Region guidelines. Knowledge of data centre standards including Uptime Institute Tier classifications, TIA‑942, and relevant IS codes.
