Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) seeks an Engineering Lead for a mission-critical data centre project in Dholera. You will manage multi-disciplinary teams across MEP, structural, civil and architectural domains to ensure integrated design, quality, and on-time delivery from concept to commissioning.

You will drive design reviews, equipment selections, energy modeling, and performance optimization, while coordinating with clients and regulators to achieve Tier objectives and smooth handover.

Job Description: Engineering Lead JLL Projects and Development Services Data Centre Project, Dholera

Position Summary

Engineering Lead responsible for overall technical coordination and management of all engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Structural) for mission‑critical data centre in Dholera. Ensure integrated design delivery, construction quality, and successful commissioning of world‑class data centre infrastructure meeting Tier III/IV certification standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Coordination: Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across MEP, structural, civil, and architectural disciplines. Provide technical direction for all design phases from concept through detailed engineering and construction. Review and approve integrated engineering designs, calculations, and specifications for compliance with data centre standards (Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, TIA‑942). Ensure design integration between disciplines resolving conflicts and optimizing system interfaces. Establish technical standards, best practices, and quality benchmarks for the project.
• Design Management: Oversee consultant deliverables including design reports, drawings, BOQ, and technical specifications. Lead design review meetings and technical coordination sessions with all stakeholders. Approve major equipment selection including power systems, cooling infrastructure, fire suppression, and building management systems. Optimize designs for energy efficiency, operational reliability, and lifecycle costs. Ensure redundancy levels (N, N+1, 2N) align with client requirements and uptime objectives.
• Project Execution & Quality Assurance: Manage engineering scope, schedule, and budget throughout project lifecycle. Coordinate with Client representatives, JLL project management, consultants, and contractors. Conduct regular site inspections to verify construction quality and design compliance. Review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and material certifications. Implement rigorous quality control procedures across all engineering disciplines. Identify and resolve technical issues proactively to maintain project momentum.
• Commissioning & Handover: Develop comprehensive commissioning strategy covering all building systems. Oversee pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and integrated systems testing activities. Coordinate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). Ensure successful completion of performance testing and Tier certification requirements. Lead preparation of O&M manuals, as‑built documentation, and training programs. Support smooth transition to operations team.
• Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with Indian building codes (NBC, IS standards), fire safety regulations, and environmental requirements. Coordinate statutory approvals from local authorities and regulatory bodies. Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor HSE compliance across all engineering activities. Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management and client.

Required Qualifications

• Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil). Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer status advantageous.
• Data centre certifications (CDCP, CDCE, CDCS) highly desirable.
• Experience: 15+ years in engineering management with 10+ years in mission‑critical facilities. Proven experience managing large‑scale data centre projects (minimum 10MW capacity). Track record leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex infrastructure projects.
• Technical expertise in data centre design principles across all engineering disciplines. Deep understanding of critical power systems, cooling infrastructure, and building systems. Proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, ETAP, DIALux). Strong grasp of energy modeling, CFD analysis, and performance optimization techniques. Familiarity with modular data centre concepts and prefabrication methodologies.
• Leadership & Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead large, diverse engineering teams. Strong stakeholder management and client relationship skills. Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities. Outstanding communication skills with technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Other: Experience managing consultant performance and contractor coordination. Proven track record delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Working Conditions

Based at project site in Dholera, Gujarat with full‑time presence required during critical phases. Extended hours during design milestones, construction peaks, and commissioning activities. Regular travel to consultant offices, vendor facilities, and JLL locations as needed. Site work requires appropriate PPE and adherence to safety protocols.

Reporting Structure

Reports to Senior Project Director/Programme Manager for Data Centre project. Provides functional leadership to discipline leads (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural) and coordinates with JLL’s Technical Director. May supervise engineering managers, coordinators, and support staff.
