Job summary

Molex in Bengaluru, India seeks a Project Engineer to drive component and system development in our Connector team. You will apply design tools, validate concepts, and ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness while meeting customer requirements.

You will lead DFMEA/ FEA analyses, tolerance stacks, and DVP&R, develop models and drawings with GD&T, document scopes and plans, and mentor junior engineers as part of a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 8-15 years of engineering experience in product design.
• Experience using analytical studies (FEA, tolerance stacks, DFMEA, etc.).
• Experience developing validation plans and analyzing test results to ensure performance.
• Structured problem-solving methods to identify root causes.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept development, ensuring designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet customer requirements.
• Conduct DFMEA, FEA, tolerance analysis, and other analytical studies.
• Create and maintain product models and drawings using GD&T with proper datum selection, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
• Document project scope, requirements, feasibility, and engineering work plans.
• Develop test plans (DVP&R) and analyze test results using statistical methods; perform DOE, Hypothesis Testing, and Capability Studies.
• Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methods like 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone diagrams with senior guidance.
• Select materials for plastic injection molded and metal stamped components.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.

Our Team

The Connector Engineering team develops innovative, high-performance connector solutions that support customer applications across diverse industries. The team collaborates closely with cross-functional partners to design, validate, and launch products while leveraging advanced engineering tools, analytical methods, and a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

What You Will Do

• Create and maintain product models and drawings using GD&T, ensuring proper datum selection, dimensioning, and tolerancing, with support from experienced engineers.
• Documenting project scope, requirements, feasibility, and engineering work plans.
• Develop test plans (DVP&R) and analyze test results using statistical methods; perform DOE, Hypothesis Testing, and Capability Studies.
• Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methods like 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone diagrams with senior guidance.
• Select materials for plastic injection molded and metal stamped components.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers from technical standpoint.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
• 8-15 years of engineering experience in product design
• Experience using analytical studies (FEA, tolerance stacks, DFMEA, etc.) as part of a product development process
• Experience developing validation plans and analyzing test results to ensure a product meets performance requirements
• Demonstrated ability to use structured problem-solving methods to systematically determine root causes for complex technical issues
• Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time

What Will Put You Ahead

• Product design experience in the automotive industry, preferably in connector design
• Automotive Connector development knowledge and experience
• Knowledge of resins, metals, engineering tools and processes, and manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, plating, assembly)
