HYGENCO - The Hydrogen Company is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead large-scale process plant projects in Green Ammonia and other hydrogen derivatives, ensuring delivery within time and budget while coordinating PMCs, EPCs, and vendors.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and leadership of multidisciplinary teams through the EPC lifecycle, with focus on sustainability and net-zero goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years in large-scale project execution in refinery/petrochem/gases/CSP sectors.
  • At least 5 years in a leading project execution role and full lifecycle experience on two projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering; MSc preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of EPC processes, contract negotiations, and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, execution, and completion of major projects; develop execution strategies.
  • Oversee PMC/OE and EPC contractors; ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Manage budgets, cost reviews, and financial risk mitigation.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary project teams across all phases.
  • Engage regulators, contractors, suppliers, and investors for permits and approvals.
  • Drive commissioning, start-up, and on-time project delivery.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Director with a proven track record of executing complex process plant projects of large to mega scale, such as those in refineries, petrochemicals, gases, CSP, etc. You will lead the execution of our large‑scale projects in Green Ammonia and other Green Hydrogen Derivatives, ensuring completion within estimated timelines and approved budgets while maintaining strict coordination over PMCs, EPCs, and direct vendors and meeting stringent quality and safety parameters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership & Strategy: Lead planning, execution, and completion of the Project; develop and execute project execution strategies; coordinate with senior management on updates, financial forecasts, and risk assessments.
  • Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC): Oversee selection, management, and contract negotiation of PMC/OE and EPC contractors; ensure compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and KPIs; monitor design, procurement, and construction activities for quality, safety, and schedule adherence.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Manage Project budgets; conduct cost reviews, financial risk analysis, and implement control measures to avoid overruns.
  • Team Management & Development: Lead, hire, and mentor multidisciplinary project teams, fostering a collaborative environment across all phases.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with regulatory authorities, contractors, suppliers, and investors; plan and obtain necessary permits and approvals; maintain strong relationships to facilitate compliance and execution.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies; ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations, especially environmental and sustainability standards.
  • HSE & Sustainability: Ensure highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance; promote sustainability initiatives aligned with Green Hydrogen and Net Zero Carbon goals.
  • Project Delivery: Drive timely delivery of milestones; oversee commissioning and start‑up execution with precision.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or related fields). Master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years in large‑scale project execution within refinery, petrochemical, gases, or CSP sectors; at least 5 years in a leading project execution role; full lifecycle experience of at least two such projects, with one in a similar leadership position.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of EPC processes, contract negotiations, hydrogen and ammonia plant operations, and project management organization.
  • Preferred Skills: Familiarity with global and local environmental regulations for green energy projects, refineries, petrochemicals, or hazardous gases; strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to present to senior executives, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
