Job summary

EXL in Chennai is seeking a BI Developer to design and maintain reports and dashboards. You will develop SSRS reports, SSIS ETL pipelines, and Power BI dashboards while ensuring data quality and performance across environments.

You will collaborate with business users, QA, and leadership to translate requirements into technical specifications, implement data models, and optimize reporting processes for timely insights.

Qualifications

• Experience with SSRS report development across tabular, matrix, drill-through.
• ETL design using SSIS and SQL integration.
• Power BI report building and service usage.
• Strong data modeling and DAX skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain SSRS reports and Power BI dashboards.
• Build SSIS packages and integrate data from SQL Server, APIs, and files.
• Create data models, DAX measures, and data relationships.
• Gather requirements from business users and translate into technical specs.
• Deploy reports across DEV/QA/PROD and monitor performance.
• Maintain docs for reports, dashboards and ETL processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Reporting & Visualization
• Develop and maintain SSRS reports (tabular, matrix, drill-through, and parameterized reports)
• Design interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI
• Implement data visualization best practices (KPI cards, trend analysis, RAG indicators)
• Optimize reports for performance and usability
• Data Integration & ETL
• Develop and maintain SSIS packages for ETL processes
• Extract data from multiple sources (SQL Server, APIs, flat files)
• Perform data transformation, cleansing, and loading into reporting databases
• Schedule and monitor SSIS jobs for regular data refresh
• Data Modeling & Analysis
• Design and maintain data models for Power BI
• Create DAX measures, calculated columns, and data relationships
• Perform data validation and ensure accuracy of reporting metrics
• Stakeholder Collaboration
• Gather reporting requirements from business users, QA, and leadership
• Convert business needs into technical specifications
• Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis
• Deployment & Maintenance
• Deploy reports across environments (DEV, QA, PROD)
• Troubleshoot issues related to report generation, data accuracy, and performance
• Maintain documentation for reports, dashboards, and ETL processes
