Job summary

IQ City Foundation's Department of Biochemistry invites applications for a Professor to lead and supervise the academic activities of the department, teaching Medical Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Enzymology, Metabolism and Genetics.

The role includes developing lesson plans, mentoring students, guiding research, overseeing examinations, and ensuring NMC compliance while coordinating with other departments for integrated teaching.

Qualifications

• MD in Biochemistry or equivalent qualification as per applicable NMC norms.
• Teaching experience in a recognized medical college/institution as per applicable NMC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the academic activities of the Department of Biochemistry.
• Conduct lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, seminars, and case-based teaching.
• Teach Medical Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Enzymology, Metabolism, Genetics, and related subjects.
• Develop and review lesson plans, academic schedules, teaching materials, and practical programs.
• Guide and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in academic and research activities.
• Supervise internal assessments, university examinations, viva-voce, and other academic evaluations.
• Promote research activities and guide faculty and students in research projects and publications.
• Encourage and facilitate publications in reputed national and international journals.
• Organize and participate in seminars, CME programs, workshops, conferences, and academic activities.
• Supervise the functioning of the biochemistry laboratory and ensure proper use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Ensure adherence to laboratory safety, quality standards, and applicable institutional procedures.
• Mentor and coordinate faculty members and support their academic and professional development.
• Maintain departmental records, academic documentation, attendance, examination records, and other required reports.
• Ensure compliance with NMC regulations, medical education standards, and institutional policies.
• Represent the department during medical college inspections, accreditation activities, and regulatory assessments.
• Participate in departmental and institutional committees as assigned.
• Coordinate with other clinical and pre-clinical departments for integrated teaching and academic activities.
• Perform any other academic, research, or administrative responsibilities assigned by the Principal/Dean/Head of Institution.
