Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Implement SOPs, SOCs and HSEF procedures on the plant floor.
• Drive production targets, yield, quality, energy use and consumption norms.
• Lead PSM activities including MSDS, P&ID updates, MOC tracking and documentation.
• Plan and execute plant shutdowns, turnarounds, pre-commissioning and startups.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor utilities, chemicals and catalyst consumption.
• Prepare MIS, variance reports and support budgeting and cost control.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with CTS and Maintenance teams.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for throughput and yields.
• Develop and mentor the production team; build successors.
• Ensure compliance with OMPRO and digital operations tools.
• Coordinate material planning and procurement of chemicals and consumables.
• Maintain interfaces with Maintenance, Quality, Technology, Safety and Business teams.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager PVC / VCM to lead safe, reliable, and efficient operations of the PVC / VCM manufacturing units at Reliance Industries Limited. The role is critical in achieving production targets, ensuring operational excellence, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, Environment & Fire (HSEF) and Process Safety Management (PSM).

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure implementation of operational discipline, SOPs, SOCs, and HSEF procedures on the plant floor.
• Drive achievement of production targets, yield, quality, energy efficiency, and specific consumption norms.
• Lead and coordinate Process Safety Management (PSM) activities – MSDS, P&ID updates, MOC tracking, documentation, and compliance.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute plant shutdowns, turnarounds, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for process deviations, equipment failures, and quality issues; implement corrective & preventive actions.
• Monitor and control key process parameters, utilities, chemicals, and catalysts consumption.
• Prepare and review MIS, variance reports, and management presentations; support annual budgeting and cost control.
• Prioritize planned and unplanned maintenance activities in coordination with Maintenance and CTS teams.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives (PIOs) for higher throughput, better yields, lower energy consumption, and new product trials.
• Develop, coach, and mentor the production team (shift engineers, day superintendents, and operators); build successors.
• Ensure 100% compliance with OMPRO and other digital tools used for operations management.
• Coordinate material planning and procurement of chemicals, catalysts, and consumables.
• Maintain strong interface with Maintenance, Quality, Technology, Safety, and Business teams.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong process knowledge of PVC and VCM manufacturing (polymerization, VCM handling, EDC cracking, purification, etc.).
• Hands-on experience in continuous / batch chemical plant operations, preferably in petrochemical / polymer plants.
• Proven leadership in managing multi-shift production teams.
• Excellent knowledge of HSEF, PSM, and statutory compliance in chemical plants.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Good planning, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle plant emergencies effectively.
