Job summary

Hitachi Energy India Limited in Vadodara seeks an experienced Winding Department In-Charge to lead winding operations for 220kV to 765kV HV transformers. You will drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement while mentoring a team of technicians, supervisors, and contract workers.

You must have a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 15+ years in transformer manufacturing with 7+ years in winding operations, and strong skills in reading drawings, Lean/5S/Kaizen, and SAP ERP.

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 15+ years in transformer manufacturing with 7+ years in winding operations for EHV/UHV transformers.
  • Strong knowledge of transformer winding techniques (Inter shield, interleaved disc, helical, layer coils).
  • Proficient in reading mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead fresh teams and manage conflict effectively.
  • Proficiency in spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Lead winding operations including coil winding, insulation, and coil assembly.
  • Ensure timely production schedules with high-quality standards.
  • Interpret and implement engineering drawings, winding sheets, and work instructions.
  • Enforce strict compliance with EHS policies and promote a zero-incident safety culture.
  • Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with QA/QC to ensure quality and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead and develop winding technicians, supervisors, and contract workers.
  • Identify skill gaps and implement training and multi-skilling initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean, 5S, and Kaizen.
  • Monitor KPIs such as productivity, downtime, rework, and first-pass yield.

Your background
