Job summary

Supermicro seeks engineers to support PCBA production in a fast-paced environment. You will drive lean improvements, coordinate with contract manufacturers, and ensure quality through audits and documentation.

Role requires collaboration with engineering, procurement, and QA teams, plus travel for short-term assignments. A background in electronics manufacturing and strong problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in PCBA or electronics manufacturing is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork across functions.

Responsibilities

• Review and follow all company policies and handbooks.
• Coordinate with CM for PCBA production improvements and uptime.
• Document processes, work instructions, and quality records.
• Collaborate with PCBA, engineering, procurement and QA to implement changes.
• Apply lean methods (Kaizen, 5S, VSM) to reduce waste and speed cycles.
• Estimate production times and help schedule CM output.
• Lead FAI, IPQC, and FQC audits and recommend improvements.
• Familiarity with MES/SFCS is a bonus for efficiency.
• Maintain performance under pressure and handle overtime/short-term travel.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Review and abide by all Company policies in the latest revision of the Employee Handbook.
• Shall comply with all terms and conditions of any applicable employment agreement.
• Support CM (Contract Manufacturer) to troubleshoot PCBA production issues and implement corrective actions promptly, minimize downtime, optimize production parameters, and ensure continuous production improvement.
• Support necessary documentation of processes, procedures, and work instructions to help CM comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate and cross-function with PCBA manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and quality assurance teams to assist CM in implementing design changes and process improvements.
• Apply lean production (e.g., M360, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping) to help CM streamline workflows, reduce waste, and shorten production cycle times. Analyze and optimize workstation layouts and designs to enhance production efficiency
• Support CM in estimating PCBA production times and developing schedules to meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
• Execute the First Article Inspections (FAI), In-Process Quality Control (IPQC), and Final Quality Control (FQC) audits at CM, and provide improvement recommendations.
• Familiarity with MES or Shop Floor Control Systems (SFCS) is considered an added advantage.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet work demands.
• Willingness to support company assignments, including overtime and overseas travel (e.g., the U.S., Taiwan) for short-term missions of up to one month.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred; candidates with around 3years of relevant experience in the PCBA or electronics manufacturing environment will be considered an added advantage.
• Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, including customers, which is an advantage to the candidate.
• Working knowledge or exposure to electronic components used in PCBA, raw PCB materials, mechanical parts, and SMT, DIP, or functional test (FT) assembly processes is preferable.
• Hands-on exposure to motherboard or computer/server device assembly, including electrical components, testing, and inspection activities, is considered an added value.
• Possesses strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills, with familiarity or exposure to structured problem-solving tools such as 8D or Six Sigma being an added advantage; related certifications (e.g., PMP) are beneficial but not mandatory.
• Proficiency in English; Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia language capabilities are considered an added advantage for effective communication in a multi-cultural environment.
• Familiarity with hands-on experience in managing Contract Manufacturers (CM), is considered an added advantage.
• Experience with Fortune 500 EMS/ODM/OED electronics manufacture companies is highly preferred.
