Job summary

Tata Communications is seeking a Product Owner to drive the SMS offering within our CPaaS portfolio. You’ll translate market needs into detailed user stories, manage the backlog, and work with engineering for timely, high-quality deliveries.

You will partner with the Product Manager and cross-functional teams to align roadmaps with business outcomes, focusing on carrier integrations and SMS standards. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in CPaaS and strong backlog management skills.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Technical Product Lead in CPaaS, telecom, or messaging platforms.
• Strong familiarity with SMS or other messaging APIs.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum with backlog and sprint management.
• Excellent ability to translate complex requirements into clear, testable user stories.
• Solid communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
• Analytical mindset focused on product quality, delivery, and customer impact.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, CS, or related field; Agile certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Manager to communicate progress, risks, and dependencies.
• Support pre-sales and operations with product knowledge and clarifications.
• Incorporate customer, carrier, and partner feedback into iterations.
• Develop understanding of SMS standards, GSMA specs, and carrier integrations.
• Stay informed on SMS trends, API developments, and platform capabilities.
• Contribute to use case validation and functional design for product-market fit.
• Monitor product metrics post-launch and identify UX/technical improvements.
• Assist in documentation, release notes, and internal enablement for SMS updates.

You will work closely with the Product Manager, engineering, design, and delivery teams to translate business and market needs into actionable product requirements. Your role is central to ensuring that our SMS roadmap is implemented efficiently, with high quality, and in alignment with the global product strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Product Execution & Delivery

• Translate product vision and high-level requirements into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and sprint backlogs.
• Work with engineering teams to ensure clarity, feasibility, and timely delivery of product increments.
• Manage the SMS product backlog, ensuring it is well-prioritized, refined, and aligned with business outcomes.
• Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure continuous alignment between technical teams and product goals.
• Validate deliverables against business and technical acceptance criteria to ensure high-quality releases.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Serve as the day-to-day point of contact between engineering, QA, and cross-functional business teams.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Manager to communicate progress, risks, and dependencies.
• Support pre-sales and operations teams with product knowledge and technical clarifications when needed.
• Ensure customer, carrier, and partner feedback is incorporated into product iterations.

Market & Technical Understanding

• Develop a solid understanding of SMS standards, GSMA specifications, and carrier-level integrations.
• Stay informed about SMS trends, API developments, and platform capabilities to support informed product decisions.
• Contribute to use case validation and functional design to ensure product-market fit.

Data & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor product performance metrics post-launch (e.g., delivery success rates, engagement, adoption).
• Identify opportunities to improve user experience, efficiency, or technical reliability.
• Support documentation, release notes, and internal enablement material for SMS product updates.

Qualifications
