Product Owner CIAM (Customer Identity & Access Management)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Product Owner with strong business analysis and product delivery capabilities to drive Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM), customer authentication, identity verification and fraud prevention initiatives within the banking and financial services domain.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining product requirements, managing and prioritizing the product backlog, translating business needs into actionable user stories, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable and customer-centric digital identity solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the product vision, roadmap and backlog for CIAM, customer authentication, identity proofing, digital onboarding and fraud prevention capabilities.
• Translate business, customer, security, risk, privacy and regulatory requirements into epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements.
• Prioritize product features based on customer experience, business value, fraud risk, regulatory obligations, security requirements and technical dependencies.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, solution architects, engineering, QA, cybersecurity, fraud, risk, compliance, legal and operations teams.
• Lead requirement-gathering workshops, backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews and user acceptance activities.
• Define product success metrics and monitor authentication success rates, fraud indicators, customer friction, operational efficiency and overall product performance.
• Ensure product solutions meet security, privacy, accessibility, auditability, resiliency and regulatory requirements.
• Manage delivery dependencies, risks, issues and stakeholder expectations throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support continuous improvement of customer identity journeys, authentication mechanisms and digital banking experiences.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 710 years of overall professional experience, with relevant experience as a Product Owner, Senior Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst.
• Experience in banking, financial services or a regulated financial services environment.
• Hands-on experience with CIAM, customer authentication, identity verification, digital onboarding, authorization or fraud prevention solutions.
• Strong understanding of product backlog management, roadmap planning, Agile/Scrum delivery, epics, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Experience working closely with technology and engineering teams to deliver enterprise or customer-facing digital solutions.
• Understanding of customer identity management, authentication workflows, access controls, security and risk management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management and decision-making skills.
• Ability to balance customer experience, business priorities, security controls and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to CIAM and identity platforms such as Ping Identity/PingAM or related technologies.
• Experience with authentication and fraud prevention platforms such as Transmit Security or FICO.
• Exposure to identity verification and document or biometric verification platforms such as Mitek and Incode.
• Understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and risk-based authentication.
• Knowledge of Canadian banking practices, regulatory expectations and compliance requirements.
• Experience working with distributed teams and international banking stakeholders.
