Job summary

Visteon is seeking a Senior Software Product Owner in Chennai to lead the development and delivery of automotive software solutions. The role drives product vision, roadmap planning, and execution in a cross-functional delivery team.

You will manage the software backlog, align with engineering and design, and ensure timely delivery of features with a strong emphasis on quality and safety standards like ISO 26262.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Creates and manages a software Feature Implementation Plan with product level plan.
• Maintains the Software Product Backlog and prioritizes items.
• Handles change requests through backlog items and coordinates with requirements.
• Prioritizes backlog according to product level timing.
• Ensures stories are clear for the scrum team and resolves impediments with the requirements team.
• Supports project leads to define sprint plans aligned with program goals.
• Articulates vision and expectations in Sprint Planning for goals and DoD.
• Monitors sprint progress and provides critical inputs when needed.
• Participates in Retrospectives to drive improvements for upcoming sprints.
• Adjusts course as priorities change and verifies sprint goals are met.
• Provides project progress updates to the Program Team and facility readiness.
• Defect management is a key focus area for this role.
• Familiar with AI tools to boost productivity.

Position description: We are seeking an experienced and strategic product leader to drive the development and delivery of innovative software solutions within the automotive sector. This role requires a deep understanding of automotive software products, agile methodologies, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment with business goals and customer needs. The successful candidate will lead product vision, roadmap planning, and execution, working closely with engineering, design, and business teams to deliver high-quality software products that enhance vehicle performance and user experience. This position is based within the Software Delivery department at Visteon, a global leader in automotive technology, and demands a proactive approach to managing complex product lifecycles in a fast-paced, evolving industry.

Primary Responsibilities

• Description:
• Creates and manages a software Feature Implementation Plan with product level plan.
• Creates and maintains the Software Product Backlog.
• Manages external and internal change requests through software backlog items.
• Prioritizes and sequences the software backlog items according to product level timing plan.
• Ensures stories are made clear to the scrum team and requirements related impediments are resolved on time in coordination with systems requirements team.
• Supports Project Leads to define lower-level sprint plans in alignment with project level plans.
• In Sprint Planning meetings, conveys vision, prioritization and expectations towards defining sprint goals & Definition of Done (DOD).
• In Daily Stand-ups (optional), observes sprint progress and provides inputs that may be vital to the sprint execution.
• In Retrospective meetings, provides feedback on improvements for the upcoming sprints.
• Adjusts the course of the software project at the end of every Sprint when product level priorities change.
• Perform Sprint Review and verify the planned goals are achieved.
• Provides software readiness and program’s progress updates to Program Team.
• Defect Management Process is the Key aspect of this role.
• Familiar with AI tools to improve the overall productivity

Educational Qualifications Preferred

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of Overall 15 years of experience and 7 Years in in product ownership or product management roles within the automotive software industry.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software products in an agile environment.
• Strong understanding of automotive software architectures, embedded systems, and industry standards such as ISO 26262.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a global, matrixed organization.
• Certification in Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
