Job summary

Hitachi ABB Power Grids in Chennai invites a qualified Professional to join as Product Lifecycle & Documentation Engineer. You will manage INAIL drawings, BOMs, and 2D/3D data using SAP, HVPLM, and CREO, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support certification activities and maintain Windchill data integrity, while contributing to prototyping, testing, and engineering data management.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in mechanical engineering documentation, BOMs and drawings is required.
• Experience: 4–5 years, location: Chennai.
• Proficient in SAP and HVPLM systems; CREO for drawings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare INAIL certification drawings including prototype assemblies and detailed component drawings.
• Create, maintain, and optimize BOMs using SAP and HVPLM.
• Develop, modify, and maintain 2D drawings using CREO; manage data uploads in Windchill (HVPLM).
• Evaluate mechanical components based on requirements and enclosure drawings.
• Ensure compliance with documentation standards and certification requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve challenges and improve processes.
• Support certification and engineering activities with attention to detail and documentation management.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and guidelines.

Product Lifecycle & Documentation Engineer

Join a dynamic engineering team supporting certification and product development activities by managing technical drawings, BOM structures, and INAIL documentation. This role offers the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams, contribute to prototype certification processes, and enhance engineering data management using industry-standard tools and systems.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Prepare and manage INAIL certification drawings, including prototype assembly drawings and detailed component drawings for burst testing.
• Create, maintain, and optimize Bills of Materials (BOMs) using SAP and HVPLM systems.
• Develop, modify, and maintain 2D technical drawings using CREO, with responsibility for data upload and configuration management in Windchill (HVPLM).
• Evaluate and design simple mechanical components based on engineering requirements and enclosure flange drawings.
• Ensure compliance with documentation standards, drawing management guidelines, and certification requirements.
• Collaborate proactively with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges, improve processes, and maintain data accuracy.
• Support efficient execution of certification and engineering activities through strong attention to detail and structured documentation management.

Your Background

• Diploma/bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Education: Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical Engineering
• Experience: 4 to 5 years,Location: Chennai
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, self-driven, and collaborative mindset.
• Experience working with engineering management systems such as SAPand HVPLM.
• Proficiency in CREOfor creating and updating technical drawings; knowledge of SUBSTATION Engineeringis an added advantage.
• Good understanding of BOM creation, maintenance, and engineering documentation processes.
• Familiarity with INAIL certification documentation and drawing requirements is preferred.
• Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to independently manage engineering and certification-related tasks.
