Job summary

Esri India, at the Esri R&D Center- New Delhi, invites skilled Product Engineer to ensure quality of geospatial AI tools, models and libraries. You will design test plans, write test code, verify changes, and document procedures while collaborating with data scientists and engineers to release robust software for GIS analysts.

You should have 2+ years in software QA, programming with Python, familiarity with GIS libraries, and strong technical writing, time management, and collaboration

Qualifications

• 2+ years in software development or QA, preferably in product-based or geospatial contexts.
• Hands-on QA experience: test plans, automation, and product certification.
• Proficiency in Python and Jupyter notebooks, GIS libraries (GDAL/Rasterio, ArcPy) and Pytest.
• Familiarity with GIS concepts, spatial data and geospatial workflows.
• Basic understanding of ML/DL workflows; strong writing and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, engineering, CS, math or related field; India work authorization.

As a Product Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and usability of our geospatial AI tools, models, and libraries. You will design and implement test plans, write test code, and validate software, SDKs, and AI models to help deliver robust, high-quality products to our customers. This will also include performing, documenting, and teaching a wide variety of technical tasks, developing best practices, creating tutorials and documentation, and gathering requirements. Responsibilities

• Develop and implement test plans and test cases, write test code, verify code changes, bug fixes for the relevant and related products to maintain product quality
• Review and analyse test results; report status on software quality and stability; test and certify software, SDK, and AI model quality
• Troubleshoot and triage customer issues, analyse user feedback to identify areas for improvement
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers on the testing, documentation and release of tools, APIs and pretrained models for geospatial AI
• Develop samples, tutorials, documentation, blog posts and presentation of product features
• Develop pre-trained geospatial AI models for imagery, 3D datasets and text

Requirements

• 2+ years of industry experience in a software development or QA environment, preferably in product-based or geospatial consulting companies
• Hands-on experience in QA processes, implementing test plans, developing or managing test automation, and product certification
• Proficiency in Python and Jupyter notebooks, GIS libraries like GDAL/Rasterio or ArcPy, and/or testing frameworks like Pytest
• Familiarity with GIS concepts, spatial data, and geospatial workflows
• Basic understanding of machine learning and deep learning workflows
• Effective project management, time management, and organizational skills
• Technical writing skills and experience authoring samples, blog posts, and product documentation
• Bachelors degree in GIS, geography, engineering, computer science, math, or related fields
• Existing work authorization for India

Recommended Qualifications

• Masters degree in GIS, geography, engineering, computer science, math, or related fields
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
• Hands-on experience with the ArcGIS suite of products or open-source GIS software
• Experience with remote sensing, satellite imagery, and multispectral image analysis
