Job summary

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Senior Procurement Manager / Lead to manage end-to-end procurement for construction and infrastructure projects in Chennai. You will develop strategies, identify suppliers, negotiate terms, and ensure timely delivery while coordinating with multiple internal teams.

The role requires 16+ years of relevant experience, a Diploma/Degree, and strong knowledge of construction materials and market rates. Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems is essential.

Qualifications

• 16+ years of experience in construction/infrastructure procurement.
• Diploma in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical or a relevant technical qualification.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, and market rates.
• Excellent vendor development and negotiation skills.
• Experience in handling large-value procurement and multiple projects.
• Good knowledge of Purchase Orders, Work Orders, RFQs, comparative statements, and procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials as per project schedules.
• Coordinate with Project, Planning, Engineering, Stores, Finance, and Commercial teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement activities for construction and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies for materials, equipment, services, and subcontracting requirements.

• Review material specifications, BOQs, technical requirements, and approved vendor lists.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, project requirements, and applicable quality standards.
• Track procurement status and provide regular MIS/progress reports to management.
• Resolve supply, quality, delivery, and commercial issues with vendors and project teams.
• Support project teams in maintaining procurement schedules and avoiding material shortages or project delays.
• Lead and guide the procurement team and ensure smooth execution of procurement activities across projects.
