Job summary

ERM’s Consulting Delivery Hub in India seeks a Senior Consultant, Engineering to lead engineering design for complex remediation projects. You will collaborate with regional teams and clients to deliver engineering solutions from planning through implementation, mentoring junior engineers and driving technical excellence across programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • 4–10 years of relevant environmental engineering/remediation experience.
  • Experience leading engineering workstreams and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong knowledge of remediation technologies, compliance programs, and permitting.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and engineering software tools.
  • Experience developing and reviewing drawings, specs, construction docs, and reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound technical recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with high-quality deliverables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with clients, contractors, and regulators.
  • Strong commitment to safety and implementing health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering design activities for process remediation projects from data evaluation to contract documents.
  • Provide technical leadership during construction, commissioning, startup, and operations.
  • Review and approve engineering work products and mentor junior engineers.
  • Lead modeling and design efforts for stormwater, soil stabilization, hydraulics, vapor treatment, and groundwater systems.
  • Plan and direct field investigations, pilot tests, remediation system evaluations, and construction oversight.
  • Coordinate with project managers for planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Interface with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and regulators to resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, ERM standards, and quality requirements.
  • Contribute to continual improvement and standardization across the global engineering organization.
  • Support proposal development and business development activities.

Why this role matters?

As a Senior Consultant, Engineering, you will support ERM’s global consulting delivery by leading the development of engineering solutions for process remediation projects. You will work within the engineering team and partner with regional project managers, technical specialists, and clients to deliver complex remediation projects from planning through implementation. This role is critical to advancing technical excellence, mentoring junior engineers, driving delivery consistency, and supporting the successful execution of ERM’s global remediation portfolio.

What your impact is?

  • Lead the development and review of engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports for complex remediation projects.
  • Provide technical leadership during design, construction, startup, and operational phases to ensure projects meet quality, safety, budget, and schedule objectives.
  • Manage and optimize remediation system performance through troubleshooting, process evaluation, and implementation of innovative design solutions.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior engineers, supporting their professional development and project delivery capabilities.
  • Foster strong collaboration with global project teams, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering standards, design quality, and consulting delivery efficiency across projects.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • 4-10 years of relevant experience in environmental engineering, remediation design, environmental consulting, construction support, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering workstreams and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong knowledge of remediation technologies, environmental compliance programs, permitting requirements, and engineering design principles.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and engineering software tools.
  • Experience developing and reviewing engineering drawings, technical specifications, construction documents, and technical reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience interacting directly with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong commitment to safety and experience implementing health and safety requirements during field and construction activities.

Preferred:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Experience leading field programs, pilot studies, remediation system startups, and construction oversight activities.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and environmental data management platforms.
  • Experience supporting global, multi-office, or shared-service delivery models.
  • Experience applying automation, AI-enabled tools, or advanced analytical methods to engineering workflows.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering design activities for process remediation projects, including data evaluation, engineering calculations, process modeling, design development, cost estimating, and preparation of technical specifications and contract documents.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight during construction, commissioning, startup, and operational phases of remediation projects.
  • Review and approve engineering work products prepared by junior engineers and provide technical mentoring and quality assurance.
  • Lead modeling, calculations, and design efforts related to stormwater management, soil stabilization, hydraulic systems, vapor treatment systems, groundwater treatment systems, and other environmental infrastructure.
  • Plan and direct field investigations, pilot tests, remediation system evaluations, performance testing, and construction oversight activities.
  • Coordinate with project managers to support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management activities.
  • Interface directly with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and maintain project progress.
  • Ensure project activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, engineering standards, and ERM quality requirements.
  • Contribute to continual improvement initiatives, engineering best practices, and technical standardization efforts across the global engineering organization.
  • Support proposal development, scope preparation, technical sales efforts, and business development activities where appropriate.
