Job summary

Syngene International in Bangalore seeks an Expert SME in Process Engineering with 8–10 years of experience to lead scale-up activities and develop robust lab-to-production processes. The role covers reaction optimization, crystallization, distillation, filtration, and equipment planning for campaigns.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, apply advanced statistical tools, and drive process optimization and technology transfer to production teams.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of hands-on process engineering experience in pharmaceutical/chemical development
• SME in process engineering with demonstrated scale-up expertise
• Familiarity with DoE, QbD, and risk-based process optimization
• Experience using PAT tools for robust process development
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and project execution skills

Responsibilities

• Analyze and develop engineering data from lab to support scale-up
• Develop upstream and downstream processes including crystallization and distillation for campaigns
• Conduct process intensification activities and robustness testing
• Provide technical support for ongoing development projects in the lab
• Introduce new technologies to the process group
• Design and execute process optimization using DoE, QbD, FMEA
• Utilize PAT tools to develop robust processes
• Investigate process abnormalities and troubleshoot plant activities
• Support scale-up of campaigns and technology transfer
• Act as SME for process scale-up
• Interact with customers, vendors and cross-functional teams on scale-up plans

Job responsibilities:

• Analyze, review, and develop recommendations towards engineering data generated in the laboratory to support scaleup activities
• Develop robust upstream and downstream processes such as reaction optimization, crystallization, distillation, filtration, drying and evaporation to support manufacturing campaigns
• Develop advanced process intensification activities such as process feasibility evaluation, robustness testing, hypothesis testing etc.
• Provide technical support and overview of all ongoing process development projects and operations in the laboratory
• Introducing new technologies to the process research and development group including process engineering
• Design and execute process optimization activities using advanced statistical tools such as DoE (Design of experiments), QbD, FMEA etc.
• Utilize PAT tools (ReactIR, FBRM, PVM) for developing robust processes to support projects
• Provide investigations support into process abnormalities and troubleshooting of plant activities
• Apply process engineering principles to support scaleup of product campaigns at pilot and commercial scale
• Interact with customers, vendors, project leads, cross functional team in deploying scaleup plans across projects.
• Batch and equipment planning support based on strong chemical engineering and process knowledge
• Support execution of scaleup campaigns and providing directions to technology transfer and production teams
• Act as a subject matter expert in process scaleup
