Job summary

Priority Commerce is seeking a Principal Staff Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of scalable, cloud-native applications. You will be a hands-on technical leader, driving engineering direction across multiple teams and mentoring engineers to achieve engineering excellence.

You'll architect high-performance full-stack solutions using Node.js, React.js, and AWS, build secure services and microservices, and collaborate with product, QA, and DevOps to deliver robust software.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with enterprise-scale applications.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Strong experience building modern web applications using React.js.
• Extensive experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Deep expertise in AWS services (EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, SQS/SNS).
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and distributed systems.
• Expert-level MySQL, including schema design and performance tuning.
• Experience with Redis as a caching solution.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent security, scalability, availability, and performance optimization.
• Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant experience in building enterprise-scale applications.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Strong experience building modern web applications using React.js.
• Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Deep expertise in AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, SQS/SNS, and related cloud-native services.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, design patterns, and distributed systems.
• Expert‑level experience with MySQL, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, replication, and performance tuning.
• Experience with caching technologies such as Redis.
• Strong knowledge of asynchronous programming, event‑driven architecture, and message queues.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent understanding of security, scalability, availability, and performance optimization.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB.
• Exposure to Graph Databases such as Neo4j.
• Experience with GraphQL.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Experience with event streaming technologies such as Kafka.
