Overview
Senior Staff Engineer – responsible for building internet‑scale services on cloud using Python and distributed technologies in a multichannel SaaS Digital Marketing Platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical design, maintenance, and development of applications using Enterprise Python, distributed technologies, Big Data, Databricks, DevOps, and Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, business analysts, and business users to conceptualize, estimate, and develop new software applications and enhancements.
- Assist in developing and outlining software objectives, scope, and specifications in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with QA to define test cases, metrics, and resolve test result questions.
- Assist in design and implementation of new products, research and create proof‑of‑concepts for solutions.
- Develop components based on business and application requirements.
- Create unit tests in accordance with team policies and procedures.
- Advise, mentor team members in technical areas and perform administrative duties defined by support processes.
- Focus on cost optimization, scalability, reliability, and security for owned features.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years of experience with Python, Big Data, DevOps, Spark, Kafka, SQL, Angular, and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) in microservices environments.
- Preferred: Big Data ecosystems (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Databricks); Docker & Kubernetes; streaming and batch analytics.
- Experience with Eclipse, Maven, Gradle, database tools, Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence.
- Proficiency in developing SOA services, REST APIs, and microservice architectures.
- Strong performance and cost optimization skills; focus on scalability and reliability.
- Solid knowledge of web architecture and design patterns.
- Desirable: Knowledge of JavaScript UI frameworks (Angular, React, Backbone).
- Understanding of software security practices, authentication, authorization, and injection prevention.
- Familiarity with profiling, code coverage, logging, IDEs, and development tools.
- Proficiency in scripting languages: JavaScript, Linux shell, Python.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (SCRUM) and strong communication skills.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work in high‑pressure environments.
- Effective teamwork and ability to handle multiple priorities.

Nice to Have
- Certifications in Big Data, Python, Spark, or Cloud.
- Strong SQL and data analysis skills; relational database modeling knowledge.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS compute, storage, messaging, RDS/Redshift, Snowflake).
- Advanced SQL query skills across Oracle, SQL Server, data warehouses, or NoSQL systems.
- Basic UNIX/Linux knowledge or exposure.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL/ELT tools (Pentaho, Integration Services, Informatica, Glue, Data Pipeline).
- Functional knowledge of CRM, marketing, and loyalty platforms.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Rapid problem diagnosis and solution implementation.
- Strong time‑management and accountability.
- Ownership of tasks and projects.
