Purpose:
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Power Management Architect to lead the design and system architecture of next-generation Power Management/Conversion platforms for our Energy business. This includes high-reliability power conversion for renewable energy systems, energy storage, grid-tied converters, and distributed energy infrastructure. The ideal candidate will define scalable power architectures that meet demanding efficiency, thermal, and regulatory requirements for high-voltage, high-power energy systems.
Areas Of Responsibility:
- Architect advanced high-voltage, high-power DC-DC converter topologies (e.g., LLC, PSFB, interleaved buck/boost, flyback) specifically tailored for use with SiC/GaN-based power modules in energy systems.
- Define scalable and modular power architectures that supply and interface with wide-bandgap-based converters for solar inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid-tied systems, and DC fast chargers.
- Lead design of isolated and non-isolated DC-DC supplies with wide input/output ranges (e.g., 100 V–1500 V), supporting fast transient loads and high switching speeds inherent to SiC/GaN technologies.
- Own development of analog and digital control systems, ensuring fast, stable response and integration with wide-bandgap switching dynamics.
- Direct the selection and specification of magnetics, isolation techniques, and thermal Strategies suitable for high-frequency, high-efficiency power stages.
- Ensure full compliance with safety (UL, IEC), EMI/EMC (CISPR/IEC 61000), and grid-interconnect standards relevant to energy platforms.
- Collaborate across functions—including SiC/GaN switch designers, packaging engineers, and system architects—to co-optimize performance and reliability.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and system-level oversight throughout architecture, design, validation, and productization.
- Drive IP generation, architecture documentation, and technology roadmaps aligned with the company’s energy product strategy.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC/GaN) and digital power control.
- Strong knowledge of magnetics design: transformer and inductor design for high efficiency and low EMI.
- Proficient in high-voltage isolation techniques and safety-compliant designs (UL1577, IEC 62109).
- Deep understanding of EMI/EMC suppression, filter design, and compliance to IEC 61000, CISPR.
- Skilled in thermal modeling, derating, and power density optimization for harsh environments.
- Simulation tools: LTSpice, SIMPLIS, PSIM, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink.
- Familiarity with digital power controllers, firmware interaction, and telemetry features.
- Knowledge of grid interface standards, MPPT Algorithms, and power module integration.
- Knowledge of MPPT, multi-port converters, and BMS interfacing
Behavioral Skills:
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to define long-term technology direction aligned with energy market trends.
- Technical Leadership: Influences and mentors multi-disciplinary teams with clarity and technical depth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works effectively with hardware, software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams.
- Customer Focus: Strong system-level thinking with sensitivity to application requirements and product value.
- Innovation Mindset: Drives continuous improvement, patent generation, and competitive differentiation.
- Decision-Making: Balances risk, performance, and timeline in high-impact technical decisions.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication to present architectures, trade-offs, and strategy to execs and peers.
