Job summary

Medtronic plc, based in Hyderabad, India, seeks a Principal SAP ABAP, S/4 HANA & BTP professional to design, build, and deliver SAP solutions that drive our digital transformation journey. You will work across ECC, S/4HANA, Fiori, and BTP with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

You will lead end-to-end SAP developments, from requirements to deployment, while ensuring coding standards, governance, and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of IT experience with engineering/MCA/MSc/MBA degree.
• End-to-end SAP development in Greenfield and Brownfield S/4HANA projects.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and deployments.
• Strong SAP SD/MM/FI/CO process knowledge.
• Experience with S/4HANA implementations and conversions.
• Knowledge of HANA CDS Views and Annotations.
• OOABAP development and NW 7.5 standards.
• ADT, ABAP tooling, and ABAP security/compliance basics.
• Fiori/UI5 dashboards, BRF+/AIF/IDocs and integration patterns.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end lifecycle of SAP developments across ECC, S/4HANA, Fiori, and BTP.
• Collaborate with architects, leads, and stakeholders to translate requirements.
• Design, develop, test, document, and deploy SAP developments per standards.
• Support ECC to S/4HANA migrations and clean core strategies.
• Develop using ABAP, CDS Views, AMDPs, RAP, CAP, UI5, Fiori, and BTP services.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across SAP applications and platforms.
• Ensure governance, security, and compliance; collaborate with external vendors.

A Day in the Life

As a Principal SAP ABAP, S/4 HANA & BTP professional, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and delivering innovative SAP solutions that support our digital transformation journey. You will work across SAP ECC, S/4HANA, Fiori, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) technologies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions that drive business value.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of SAP development objects across SAP ECC, S/4HANA, Fiori, and BTP environments.
• Partner with functional leads, architects, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Design, develop, test, document, and deploy SAP developments following established coding standards and best practices.
• Support SAP transformation initiatives, including ECC to S/4HANA migrations and clean core strategies.
• Develop solutions using SAP ABAP, CDS Views, AMDPs, RAP, CAP, UI5, Fiori, and BTP services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across ECC, S/4HANA, Fiori, and BTP applications.
• Ensure compliance with organizational standards, security requirements, and governance policies.
• Collaborate with integration teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality integrated solutions.
• Stay current with emerging SAP technologies, tools, and development methodologies.

Required Knowledge and Experience

• 14+ years of IT experience with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, MCA, or MSc or MBA.
• Strong experience delivering end-to-end SAP development solutions in Greenfield and Brownfield S/4HANA implementation projects.
• Experience translating business requirements into technical designs, development, testing, and deployment activities.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP business processes across SD, MM, FI, and CO modules.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations and conversions.
• Experience with SAP HANA architecture CDS Views and Annotations.
• ABAP Managed Database Procedures (AMDP) for custom code remediation.
• Eclipse ADT expertise.
• Expertise in SAP UI5 Framework, SAP Fiori and Fiori Elements, Fiori dashboards and applications.
• Development experience with SAP BTP services, Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP), RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), SAP Cloud Foundry, SAP Business Application Studio (BAS), and GitHub.
• Experience with OData services, SAP Gateway, and debugging tools.
• Knowledge of SAP and non-SAP integration technologies.
• Experience adhering to SAP ABAP NW 7.5 coding standards and ATC compliance requirements.
• Experience with BRF+, AIF Framework, Web Services, ALE/IDocs, Proxies, Enhancements (BADIs, Exits, BTEs), Smart Forms and Adobe Forms, Workflow.
• Strong object-oriented ABAP (OOABAP) development skills.
• Experience supporting upgrades, SPAU/SPDD activities, regression testing, and performance optimization.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience within the Medical Device, Healthcare, or Pharmaceutical industry.
• Knowledge of SAP Production Planning (PP) and Plant Maintenance (PM) modules.
• Familiarity with Bitbucket.
• Understanding of SAP Security and Authorization concepts.
• Knowledge of SAP integration methodologies and enterprise integration patterns.
• SAP certifications in ABAP or related SAP technologies.
