Job summary

Exotel is seeking a senior VoIP engineer in Bengaluru to influence the product roadmap and lead high-availability VoIP projects. You will guide architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and drive operational excellence across deployments.

You will work with a fast-paced team, owning critical software solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to maintain top-notch call quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in the VoIP domain.
• Bachelor's or Masters degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Solid knowledge of VoIP technologies: SIP, SDP, RTP, RTCP.
• Solid knowledge of IP networking: L2/L3 routing, subnets, VLANs, NAT traversal.
• Understanding of network impairments and their impact on call quality.
• Experience leading project teams to deliver software solutions.
• 6+ years building high-availability, scalable VoIP systems.
• 4+ years with Asterisk, Kamailio or equivalents.
• 3+ years with AWS/GCP/Azure.
• 2+ years designing REST-based microservices.
• Golang/Ruby/C/C++ programming.
• Shell and Python scripting.
• MySQL or Postgres data stores.
• Linux environment proficiency.
• Agile SDLC experience.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• DevOps mindset.

What do we look for Must Haves

• 8+ years of experience in the VoIP domain.
• Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Solid knowledge of VoIP domain technologies, including SIP, SDP, RTP, RTCP.
• Solid knowledge of IP networking concepts, including L2/L3 routing, Subnets, VLANs,and NAT traversal.
• Solid knowledge of network impairments and their impact on call quality.
• Experience leading project teams to deliver critical software solutions.
• 6+ years of experience in building high-availability, scalable and fault-tolerant VoIP systems.
• 4+ years of experience in working with server-side VoIP applications like Asterisk, Kamailio or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience in working with a major cloud platform like AWS (preferred), GCP, or Azure.
• 2+ years of experience in the design and development of REST-based microservices.
• Experience in programming with one of Golang (preferred), Ruby, C/C++
• Experience in scripting with shell and Python
• Experience with data stores such as MySQL, Postgres
• Good understanding of data structures, multi-threading and concurrency concepts.
• Proficiency in working in a Linux environment
• Experience working in Agile SDLC process
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Team player, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• A "DevOps" mindset. You own what you will develop.

Good to Have

• Experience with custom development on Asterisk / Freeswitch / Kamailio / Opensips is a plus
• Experience with SIPp or any other SIP testing tools
• Experience with ISDN, WebRTC technologies
• Experience with Elastic Search queries and visualisation tools like Grafana, Kibana
• Experience with DevOps tools like Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, Kubernetes, Git
