Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Principal Onshore Pipeline Engineer in Chennai, India. The role requires leading pipeline design within the onshore team, ensuring design integrity while managing project execution. Extensive experience with FEED, detailed design, and EPC/EPCM projects is essential.

The candidate should be proficient in pipeline codes, standards, and stress analysis tools (CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, AutoCAD, MathCAD). Strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is expected.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in feasibility, conceptual, basic engineering, FEED, detailed design, and EPC/EPCM projects.
• Experience with Pipeline Basis of Design, Plan & Profile sheets, Route Maps, Data Sheets, Material grade and wall thickness calculations.

Responsibilities

• Actively maintains competence according to standards and pursues CPD.
• Familiar with design and construction of metallic and non-metallic pipelines and related codes.
• Prepare and check FEED and Detailed design pipeline scopes and deliverables.
• Prepare and check pipeline mechanical calculations, data sheets, and TBEs.
• Prepare and check pipeline construction specs, external coatings, and SOWs for construction.
• Prepare and check pipeline drawings, survey scope, schematics, and crossing matrices.
• Prepare and check material take-offs, stress analysis reports (CAESAR II/AUTO Pipe).
• Familiar with scraper stations, valves and associated piping design.

Title:

Principal Engineer - Pipeline

KBR is looking for Principal Onshore Pipeline Engineer who possess experience in working within the pipeline design team on onshore pipeline projects and ensuring Onshore Pipeline design integrity is not compromised while managing the execution of the project.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Technically competent in discipline, actively maintains competence according to standards, and pursues continuous professional development.
• Familiar with the design and construction of metallic and non-metallic pipeline designs and their respective international codes.
• Preparation and checking of FEED and Detailed design Pipeline scopes and related deliverables
• Preparation and checking of Pipeline mechanical calculations for pipeline systems
• Preparation and checking of Pipeline specialty Items specifications, data sheets, Material requisitions and TBEs (i.e. Scrapper launcher and receiver, barred tee, Line pipe, scraper signaller, induction bends, full bore ball and through conduit gate and check valves, isolating joint, pipeline flanged, fittings, chemical injection quills, Corrosion coupons, etc.)
• Preparation and checking of Pipeline Construction specifications, External coating and FJC, and SOW for construction.
• Preparation and checking of Pipeline drawings (i.e. Alignment sheets, route maps, crossing drawings, approach drawings, isometrics, field area layouts, etc.)
• Preparation and checking of Pipeline survey Scope of work
• Preparation and checking of Pipeline Schematic diagrams
• Preparation and checking of the Pipeline Crossing matrix
• Preparation and checking of Pipeline Material take-off and material specificationsPreparation and checking of Pipeline stress analysis and report using CAESAR II and AUTO Pipe.
• Familiar with Scrapers station, BVS, and associated piping design
• Able to manage vendor documents for specialty items like Scrapper launcher and receiver, barred tee, Line pipe, scraper signaller (intrusive and non-intrusive), induction bends, full bore ball and through conduit gate and check valves, isolating joint, pipeline flanged, fittings, chemical injection quills, Corrosion coupons, etc.
• Familiar with pipeline-related technical reports like route selection, valve station location selections, etc.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

• 15+ years’ experience in feasibility, conceptual, basic engineering, FEED, detailed design, and EPC / EPCM projects.
• Experience in Pipeline Basis of Design, Plan & Profile / Pipeline Alignment Sheets, Pipeline Route Maps, Pipeline Data Sheets, Pipeline Material Grade & Wall Thickness Calculations, Specifications of Pipeline Materials, Valve Datasheets, Corrosion Control Plans, Stress Analysis Reports, Road Crossing Analysis Reports, Area Classification Studies, Sectionalizing Valves Station Layouts.
• Knowledge of Pipeline Codes & Standards, EPC Projects, Technical Evaluation of Various Vendors Related to Pipeline Ancillaries and Other Equipment. Must have the ability to prepare engineering deliverables as per company technical competency standards Software Knowledge (Discipline Specific): MS Office CAESAR II and/or Autopipe, AutoCAD, MathCAD.
