FE fundinfo is seeking a Principal Engineer to own a greenfield Microsoft Fabric platform and drive enterprise reporting and analytics at scale.

You will govern, design modern data architectures, enable self-service analytics for stakeholders globally, and provide technical leadership across regions on Fabric, Synapse, and Databricks.

This 4-month contract offers flexible hybrid working and close collaboration with UK stakeholders as part of a global team.

Formación

• Extensive hands-on with Microsoft Fabric including Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, Notebooks, Semantic Models, and Power BI.
• Proven expertise designing Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion architectures within Fabric, Databricks, or Synapse environments.
• Strong experience with OneLake, OneLake Catalog, Microsoft Purview, and modern data governance practices.

Responsabilidades

• Audit and standardise Fabric workspaces per architecture and governance standards.
• Build a Bronze-Silver-Gold model domain reference implementation with end-to-end data pipelines and semantic models.
• Assess existing Fabric workspaces, plan migrations, and develop prioritised migration plans.
• Configure and govern OneLake Catalog capabilities, metadata, sensitivity labels, ownership information and self-service discovery.
• Monitor Fabric performance, capacity, access controls and governance compliance; improve platform standards.
• Provide technical leadership on Fabric best practices and architecture to engineers and stakeholders.

As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in establishing best practices, building modern data architectures, and enabling self-service analytics for stakeholders globally. This role offers the chance to influence a growing Microsoft Fabric platform while partnering with teams across multiple regions, including close collaboration with stakeholders in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Audit and standardise existing Microsoft Fabric workspaces, ensuring alignment with approved architecture, governance standards, security requirements, and naming conventions.
• Build a model domain reference implementation, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers, end-to-end data pipelines, semantic models, and reporting capabilities.
• Assess all existing Fabric workspaces, develop migration strategies, classify migration approaches, and deliver prioritised migration plans.
• Configure and govern OneLake Catalog capabilities, including metadata, endorsements, sensitivity labels, ownership information, and self-service discovery features.
• Monitor Fabric platform performance, capacity utilisation, access controls, and governance compliance while continuously improving platform standards.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, technology teams, and business stakeholders on Microsoft Fabric best practices and architecture.

Required Experience and Skills

• You will have extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, Notebooks, Semantic Models, and Power BI.
• You will have proven expertise designing and implementing Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion architectures within Fabric, Databricks, or Synapse environments.
• You will be highly skilled in OneLake, OneLake Catalog, Microsoft Purview, and modern data governance practices including metadata management, sensitivity labels, and endorsements.
• You will have strong experience building semantic models, developing Power BI reporting solutions, and delivering scalable data engineering and orchestration frameworks.
• You will possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders while influencing enterprise-wide decisions.
