Job summary

WSP India is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of pumping stations for sewage, stormwater, irrigation, potable water and firefighting systems. The role demands deep expertise in pumping stations, HVAC sizing, surge analysis and international standards, with travel within the region as needed.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in consulting and strong communication skills to coordinate with authorities and internal teams. Background verification is part of our process.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a consulting firm.
• Strong technical experience in design of pumping stations, storage tanks, HVAC and surge analysis.
• Familiar with international standards HI, AWWA, NFPA etc.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Ability to coordinate with staff and clients and travel within the region.

Responsibilities

• Carry out complete design of pumping stations and associated facilities including pipework, pump selection, head calculations and HVAC sizing.
• Prepare mechanical design calculations, reports and specifications.
• Familiar with HI, AWWA, NFPA standards.
• Attend progress and coordination meetings and prepare meeting records.
• Liaise with Local Authority Departments for approvals and coordinate with WSP teams.
• Travel within the region for meetings or on-site tasks as required.

Job description

WSP is currently looking to recruit a Principal Mechanical Engineer based in its office across India.

Responsibilities

• Carry out complete design of pumping stations for sewage, storm water, irrigation, potable water and firefighting pumping stations and its related facilities and utilities which includes pipework and valve sizing, pump selection with head calculations, HVAC sizing, lifting equipment and filter selection, piping and mechanical equipment layout arrangement. Familiar with District Cooling Plants (DCP) and surge analysis is an add on.
• Responsible for the preparation of mechanical design calculations, reports and specifications.
• Familiar with hydraulic institution ANSI/HI standards.
• Attend progress and coordination meetings of the design projects and the preparation of the meeting records.
• Liaison and coordination with all applicable Local Authority Departments to obtain approval on design projects.
• Coordination with other WSP Global discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design projects.
• To be flexible to travel within the region when required to attend meetings or to take on site activities tasks of short durations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a consulting firm.
• Must have strong technical experience in design of pumping stations, storage tanks, HVAC and surge analysis an add on with deep experience in International applicable standards for the relevant authorities (i.e. NWC, Ammana, SBC, KSA Civil Defense etc.).
• Familiar with international standard such as Hydraulic Institution (HI), AWWA, NFPA and related industry practice regulations.
• Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Thorough knowledge of current technology; must be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
• Ability to establish and maintaining effective working relationships with staff/Team.
• Knowledge in sewage treatment works is a plus.
• Knowledge in District Cooling Plants (DCP) is a plus.
• Knowledge in carrying out surge analysis is a plus.
