Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Public Health Engineer to deliver innovative, safe, and compliant engineering solutions for natural gas and LPG systems across infrastructure and building projects. The role combines technical leadership, governance, and client engagement, supporting AtkinsRéalis' commitment to quality, safety, and technical excellence in large‑scale multidisciplinary projects in the UAE & KSA.
Responsibilities
- To undertake natural gas and LPG systems infrastructure and internal buildings on international projects; added advantage if the experience includes Public Health Services and Fire Protection systems design.
- Apply "Safe by Design" principles, ensuring hierarchical risk elimination and mitigation.
- Prepare technical markups/sketches for modelling by the BIM team.
- Represent Atkins at meetings with clients and contractors.
- Liaise with local statutory authorities.
- Technical report writing.
- Prepare design calculations using industry‑standard software (Pipe Flow Expert, Gasworks Synergy Gas).
- Prepare technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES.
- Maintain records and archives to company standards.
- Manage own workload and the workload of others.
- Prepare and manage project budgets.
- Engage in multi‑discipline coordination and workshops.
- Ensure QA/QC processes are incorporated in the design.
- Review and develop established standard details and specifications with current market trends.
- Resource management across the MEP discipline to deliver the Gas package.
- Strategic technical decision making.
- Technical responsibility for quality associated Gas design deliverables.
- Review all Gas submissions to ensure consistency of approach across the MEP package.

Qualifications
- Fully qualified professional and conversant with relevant market knowledge.
- Minimum BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 10‑15 years of industry experience post‑qualification.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards membership of IPA, CIBSE, NFPA, etc.
- Significant experience in a design consultancy, preferably in the Middle East.
- Experience delivering projects in conjunction with remote design centres.
- Proven experience as a designer and technical authority, applying broad professional knowledge and sound judgment.
- Exceptional skills and knowledge of local and international codes (NFPA 54, NFPA 58, IGEM, etc.) and authority regulations (Dubai Civil Defence, DM, ADNOC, SEWA, FEWA, SBC, etc.).
- High level of technical skill in Public Health Services and Fire Protection Systems design.
- Ability to develop technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES.
- Good computer literacy in Windows, HEVACOMP, NES, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, and Microsoft packages.
- Wide knowledge of integrated design and collaboration with other disciplines.
- Capable of working under pressure and on several projects simultaneously.
- Financial awareness preferred, but ability to develop this skill required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to innovate new solutions and apply existing solutions to problems.
- Strong decision‑making and proactive initiative.
- Good report‑writing skills; experience in making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
- Ability to form and manage relationships with clients and promote the company.
- Strong team management skills.
