Job summary

WSP India is seeking an experienced electrical design professional for railway infrastructure projects in Bengaluru. The role involves leading LV distribution design, BIM-enabled modelling, and supervising a team of engineers.

You will liaise with clients to interpret specifications, ensure compliance with standards, and contribute to project delivery from conception through completion. The position offers exposure to multinational projects within a collaborative, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electrical design for railway projects.
• Experience with Bentley AECOsim and MicroStation for 3D modelling.
• Familiarity with BIM and a Common Data Environment such as ProjectWise.
• Ability to supervise designers and mentor engineers on day-to-day tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design of low voltage reticulation and distribution systems (230/400V) including UPS sources.
• Operate AMTECH / Electrical OM software to produce design outputs and select cables, protective devices and present results.
• Design general lighting and emergency lighting systems; familiarity with LED lighting concepts.
• Prepare 2D/3D drawings and layout using Bentley tools; manage CMS sizing and documentation.

The production of electrical building services designs predominantly for Railway Stations and other Railway Buildings, working individually or as part of a team. Prepare, coordinate, and monitor a project, from the initial conception to the schedule and final completion. Supervise and mentor Assistant Engineers/ Engineers in day-to-day activities.

• Design of low voltage reticulation and distribution systems (230/400Volt) including UPS sources;

• Operation of AMTECH / Electrical OM software to produce design for low voltage systems including selection of cable types, protective devices and self-checking and presentation of results;

• Design of general lighting systems;

• Design of emergency lighting systems;

• Good working knowledge of different lighting types and sources (including LED types);

• Operation of industry standard lighting design software for the design of general and emergency lighting systems;

• Design of cable management systems (CMS) including trunking, tray, and conduits and the preparation of CMS sizing calculations and self-checking and presentation of results;

• Presentation of design onto schematic and 2D layout drawings;

• Use of Bentley Microstation and AECOsim to model in 3D MEP services including but not limited to Cable Management Systems, Pipework, Ductwork etc in 3D, including generating 2D sections from 3D models for incorporation into drawings;

• Understanding of BIM and working within a Common Data Environment, preferably Bentley projectwise;

• Supervise and verify the work performed by the designers/ modeller to meet the requirements of the project.

• Interpretation of client specification requirements written in English in the development of designs;

• Operation of Microsoft Office package, including Outlook, Word, Excel and powerpoint.

• Guide Assistant Engineers/ Engineers in day to day work for the development of electrical designs.

• Experience of electrical design in the Rail environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• The applicant will have proven experience in the design of Railway infra projects with significant experience in a similar role or demonstration of a good track record
