Job summary

Ramboll India in Gurgaon/Noida is seeking a Senior Engineer/Principal Engineer to join our Tunnel & Underground Structures team. You will design tunnels and underground structures per Eurocodes, lead drawing production, and coordinate with CAD technicians to ensure high-quality deliverables.

You will engage with a global network for project delivery and knowledge sharing. We look for 6–10 years of experience in bored tunnel design, TBM segmental lining work, and FE analysis using SOFiSTiK/LUSAS.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of experience in detailed design of bored tunnel structures, preferably using Eurocodes or other international design standards.
• Hands-on design experience in bored tunnel segmental lining design (TBM).
• Exposure to European projects or prior experience with European/international consultants is beneficial.
• Hands-on experience with finite element analysis and design software (SOFiSTiK/LUSAS).

Responsibilities

• Carrying out the design for tunnels and other underground structures based on Eurocodes and other international standards.
• Lead the production of drawings and review the work of CAD technicians in the team and maintaining quality of deliverables.
• Communication & coordination with other colleagues in the wider Tunnels group for the seamless delivery of designs.

Job description

As our new Senior Engineer/ Principal Engineer - Tunnel & Underground Structures you will be part of a world class, innovation driven engineering design centre owned by an independent trust and its employees. REC is a highly sophisticated center of engineering excellence and based in our Indian offices in Gurgaon/ Noida. Working in partnership with all our established offices globally, the Ramboll Engineering Centre (REC) is a centre for excellence in design by offering optimized solutions to the rest of the organization.

As an engineer on our team, you'll have the opportunity to constantly be exposed to our experts/ industry leaders in the field of tunnel engineering and to major international infrastructure projects, such as the Stockholm Metro Yellow Line, Fehmarnbelt & Fehmarsund Immersed Tunnels, and other similar major projects in the Nordics region. We continuously aim to remain at the forefront of technology and create innovative solutions to tackle our challenges. Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

Qualification

We are looking for self-motivated team members who meet the following requirements:

• BE/B. Tech in Civil Engineering & ME/M.Tech/ MSc degree in Structural or Tunnel Engineering from an institute of repute.
• 6–10 years of experience in the detailed design of bored tunnel structures, preferably using Eurocodes or other international design standards.
• Hands-on design experience in bored tunnel segmental lining design (TBM) is essential. Understanding the TBM tunnel operation and ground-structure interaction using closed form solutions and numerical modelling (using SOFiSTiK is desirable).
• Exposure to European projects or prior experience working with European/international consultants will be beneficial.
• Hands-on experience with finite element analysis and design software, preferably LUSAS, SOFiSTiK. Understanding of continuum models FEA (2D/ 3D) will be an added advantage.
• Appreciation of construction methods & sequencing of Underground works & TBM related temporary structures and space planning aspects.
• Strong teamwork and coordination skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and project managers to ensure timely project delivery.
