Purpose of the role

To drive technical excellence and innovation by leading the design and implementation of robust software solutions, providing mentorship to engineering teams, fostering cross‑functional collaboration, and contributing to strategic planning to ensure the delivery of high‑quality solutions aligned with business objectives.

Accountabilities

• Provide guidance and expertise to engineering teams to ensure alignment with best practices and foster a culture of technical excellence.
• Contribute to strategic planning by aligning technical decisions with business goals, anticipating future technology trends, and providing insights to optimize product roadmaps.
• Design and implement complex, scalable, and maintainable software solutions, considering long‑term viability and business objectives.
• Mentor and coach junior and mid‑level engineers to foster professional growth and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with business partners, product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
• Identify and incorporate new technologies, methodologies, and industry practices to innovate within the organization.

Director Expectations

Lead a business function, providing significant input to function‑wide strategic initiatives, influencing policy and procedures, and managing multiple complex, critical strategic projects. Lead teams or act as a deep technical expert and thought leader, training and guiding less experienced specialists.

Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees, influence decisions beyond own function, and manage resources, budgeting, and policy creation for a substantial sub‑function.

Escalate policy breaches appropriately and foster compliance with regulations. Monitor and influence external environments, regulators, and advocacy groups on behalf of the organization.

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of industry theories, practices, and external market developments, using advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions in sensitive situations.

Exercise management authority for strategic decisions and recommendations, negotiate with senior stakeholders, and act as principal contact for key clients and counterparts across functions.
