Job summary

Uplers Solutions Private Limited. in Bengaluru is seeking a senior architectural leader to own the core system architecture across data ingestion, processing, search, analytics, and AI workloads.

You will be the senior technical counterpart to the Head of Engineering, owning technical depth, architecture, and correctness with no direct reports while influencing across teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own architecture of systems with correctness, scalability, reliability, and isolation as core requirements.
• Design and evolve distributed data processing, search, analytics, and AI workloads.
• Define service boundaries, APIs, data models, storage, caching, queues, and async processing.
• Contribute to architecture decision records with written rationale and multiple signers.
• Set technical standards through design reviews and worked examples, not decrees.
• Serve as escalation point for production correctness, performance, and reliability issues.
• Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers on availability and observability.
• Mentor tech leads and senior engineers to raise architectural judgment.
• Prototype hard parts before handing to teams.

You've own architecture for our core systems: tenant isolation, the data model, distributed processing, and the correctness and traceability guarantees our enterprise customers rely on. This is the senior technical counterpart to the Head of Engineering. They own direction and the organisation you own technical depth, architecture, and correctness. It is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

What You''ll Do

• Own the architecture of systems where correctness, scalability, reliability, and isolation are hard requirements
• Design and evolve distributed systems handling high-volume data ingestion, processing, search, analytics, and AI workloads
• Own architectural decisions around service boundaries, APIs, data models, storage, caching, queues, and asynchronous processing
• Co-own the architecture decision record, so every significant choice has a written rationale and more than one signer
• Set technical standards through design review and worked examples rather than by decree
• Act as escalation point for production correctness, performance, reliability, and architectural problems
• Work with Site Reliability Engineers on availability, recovery, observability, and isolation guarantees
• Grow the technical judgment of tech leads and senior engineers around you
• Prototype the hard parts yourself before handing them to a team

System Design & Architecture- You should have deep hands-on experience with:

• Distributed systems: service boundaries, asynchronous processing, queues, event-driven architectures, retries, idempotency, concurrency, consistency, and failure recovery
• Data architecture: relational modelling, PostgreSQL, indexing, partitioning, transactions, query optimisation, migrations, and multi-tenant data isolation
• Scalability: horizontal scaling, caching, workload partitioning, rate limiting, backpressure, and performance optimisation
• Reliability: high availability, fault tolerance, observability, disaster recovery, RPO/RTO, and safe reprocessing
• Security: authentication, authorization, RBAC, tenant isolation, encryption, auditability, and enterprise security requirements
• AI systems: architecture for AI/LLM components in production, including model abstraction, asynchronous inference, evaluation, versioning, cost controls, and traceability

• You are not expected to know every technology in the stack. Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, databases, cloud architecture, and production engineering matter more than familiarity with a particular framework.

What You''ll Need

• Around 8+ years building and operating production systems you stayed responsible for
• Deep experience designing and operating distributed production systems
• Deep relational data modelling, including multi-tenant designs where isolation is a hard requirement
• Designed systems with strong guarantees — immutability, traceability, reproducibility — and can explain the trade-offs
• Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, concurrency, consistency, and failure recovery
• Able to make and defend architectural decisions involving technical trade-offs, cost, complexity, and operational risk
• Able to disagree with a founder or Head of Engineering, in writing, and hold the position on evidence
• Still writing production code regularly

• Regulated or externally audited environments
• Cryptographic integrity design — signing, chaining, verification
• Systems with AI or LLM components in the critical path
• Experience as a technical escalation point for enterprise customers
• Prior Staff or Principal-level role at a company of similar stage
