Persistent Systems is seeking a Principal Embedded Observability & Telemetry Architect with 8–12 years of experience to lead end-to-end observability for embedded and edge devices. You will architect telemetry, health monitoring, and analytics pipelines, building scalable backends and agents in Python and C#.

You will collaborate with device engineering, platform, and DevOps teams to ensure reliability, performance, and operational visibility across distributed environments.

• 8–12 years of overall software engineering experience in embedded systems and enterprise-scale monitoring.
• Hands-on experience in telemetry, observability, and monitoring for embedded/edge devices.
• Strong background in backend services, APIs, microservices, and data collection pipelines.
• Proven leadership, stakeholder management, and mentoring of engineering teams.
• Proficient in Python and C# development for backend and tooling.
• Extensive experience with Grafana dashboards, visualization, and analytics.
• Deep knowledge of Grafana/Prometheus-based monitoring and alerting.
• Solid Linux administration, performance tuning, and diagnostics.

We are seeking an experienced highly skilled Principal Embedded Observability & Telemetry Architect with 8 to 12 years of experience in software engineering, embedded systems, and enterprise-scale monitoring solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in embedded device monitoring, telemetry platforms, Linux-based edge environments, and backend development using Python and C#. You will lead the design and implementation of proactive monitoring, diagnostics, and observability solutions for large-scale embedded and edge device ecosystems, ensuring reliability, performance, and operational excellence across distributed environments.

What You'll Do:

• Design, architect, and develop telemetry and observability solutions for embedded and edge devices.
• Define and implement scalable device health monitoring, diagnostics, and alerting frameworks.
• Build systems to collect, process, store, and visualize real-time operational and performance metrics.
• Develop proactive monitoring capabilities that improve device fleet reliability, availability, and uptime.
• Design and develop backend services, monitoring agents, APIs, and microservices using Python and C#.
• Implement telemetry data collection, aggregation, and analytics solutions across distributed environments.
• Design and maintain monitoring dashboards, reporting solutions, and operational insights using Grafana.
• Implement and manage metric collection, alerting, and monitoring infrastructure using Prometheus.
• Monitor system-level metrics including CPU, memory, disk, network, application health, and hardware utilization.
• Administer, troubleshoot, and optimize Linux-based embedded and edge computing environments.
• Develop observability strategies for resource-constrained embedded devices and edge platforms.
• Collaborate with device engineering, platform, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to improve system reliability and operational visibility.
• Drive monitoring architecture reviews, technical governance, and best practices across engineering teams.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex production and field issues.
• Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership on observability, telemetry, and monitoring frameworks.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, technology roadmaps, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 8 to 12 years of overall software engineering and technology experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on core development experience in embedded devices and edge computing environments.
• Strong expertise in designing and implementing telemetry, observability, and monitoring solutions for embedded systems.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Python and C# development.
• Strong experience developing backend services, APIs, microservices, and monitoring agents.
• Expertise in Grafana dashboard development, visualization, reporting, and operational analytics.
• Strong hands-on experience with Prometheus, metrics collection, monitoring configuration, and alert management.
• Deep understanding of Linux administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and system diagnostics.
• Experience monitoring system-level metrics including CPU, memory, storage, networking, services, and application performance.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, edge computing architectures, and device fleet management.
• Experience building scalable monitoring platforms for mission-critical production environments.
• Strong expertise in log management, performance analysis, incident management, and root cause analysis.
• Proven ability to design highly available, secure, and scalable observability architectures.
• Experience working with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to guide architectural decisions and mentor senior engineering teams.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
