Role Overview
The candidate will work on the company Instinet’s proprietary sales and trading platform products, addressing a diverse range of trading needs and goals. The platform handles a significant portion of client order flow daily and is a business‑critical system. The role requires a strong technologist with deep experience in mission‑critical and highly evolving systems and offers opportunities to manage multiple module deliveries independently and to level up the overall product.
Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver new features, enhancements and bug fixes to the trading platform, ensuring low latency and high throughput.
- Participate across the full project life cycle: technical analysis, design, data analysis, development, and testing.
- Understand existing business functions and collaborate on defining new solutions that meet objectives.
- Liaise with business and development teams regarding priorities and progress.
- Ensure adherence to functional architecture strategy and compliance with company development standards.
- Help manage projects for the implementation of new systems or upgrades when necessary.
- Contribute throughout the SDLC—development, testing, documentation, support—and collaborate with QA and regional teams.
- Handle L2 & L3 support, providing quick resolution for production and user issues, including application testing and maintenance releases.
- Establish software delivery best practices, collaborate on architecture, design decisions, and code reviews.
- Own deliveries and work hands‑on across all aspects of software delivery.
- Mentor and guide junior team members as needed.
Mandatory Skill Set
- Investment Banking domain knowledge—good understanding of capital markets.
- Experience working with financial markets and understanding of local market characteristics.
- Strong core Java expertise.
- High performance messaging.
- Multi‑threading, concurrency, and synchronization skills.
- Networking (TCP/UDP).
- Performance engineering.
- CI/CD automation proficiency.
- Exposure to distributed systems, message‑oriented architecture, and event‑driven systems.

- Knowledge of execution services, including sales client connectivity, algo, and market connectivity.
- FNO domain knowledge.
- Prior experience developing trading systems in equity markets.
- Skill in AI tools such as Claude, CoPilot, and similar, to accelerate product feature delivery and improve productivity.
