Job summary

ABB Bengaluru is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy production-grade AI and Generative AI solutions. The role combines strong software engineering with modern AI technologies to deliver scalable, cloud-native applications for industrial challenges.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, LangChain, and AI frameworks, and will work in a hybrid model with cross-functional teams in a global context.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering, with 3+ years designing and developing AI/LLM-based applications.
• Strong programming expertise in Python and .NET with enterprise-grade software delivery experience.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, Prompt Engineering, LangChain, MCP, A2A, and related AI frameworks.
• Cloud-native development using Kubernetes, containers, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into front-end applications and SDLC knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver end-to-end AI and Generative AI solutions, including LLM integrations and RAG pipelines.
• Build agentic workflows with modern AI frameworks and protocols.
• Design retrieval pipelines, prompt strategies, evaluation frameworks, and AI app architectures.

Your role and responsibilities
In this role, we are looking for an experienced AI Engineer to join our Industrial Automation Digital Organization. The role requires a highly skilled software professional who can design, build, and deliver production-grade AI and Generative AI solutions from concept to deployment. You will combine strong software engineering expertise with modern AI technologies to build scalable, cloud-native applications that solve complex industrial challenges.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI frameworks, cloud-native technologies, and AI-assisted software development tools. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable AI-powered products.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Design, develop, and deliver end-to-end AI and Generative AI solutions including LLM integrations, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, APIs, and user interface integrations.
• Build intelligent agentic workflows using modern AI frameworks and protocols such as LangChain, MCP, A2A, and similar technologies.
• Design retrieval pipelines, prompt engineering strategies, evaluation frameworks, and AI application architectures to improve model performance and business outcomes.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable software using Python and .NET, following engineering best practices and coding standards.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated build, testing, security scanning, and deployment processes.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize AI applications on Kubernetes with focus on scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and similar technologies to improve development productivity, code quality, documentation, and reviews.
• Translate Figma designs into responsive front‑end implementations while collaborating with UX and product teams.
• Contribute to solution architecture, technical design documentation, and engineering standards for AI-enabled applications.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Data Science, Machine Learning, Platform Engineering, and Design teams to align technical implementation with product roadmaps.
• Build, operationalize, and maintain ML and LLM pipelines by implementing evaluation frameworks, monitoring, governance, responsible AI practices, and model guardrails.
• Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend innovative solutions that enhance product capabilities and engineering efficiency.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years designing and developing AI, Machine Learning, or LLM-based applications.
• Strong programming expertise in Python and .NET with experience developing enterprise-grade software solutions.
• Hands‑on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Prompt Engineering, LangChain, n8n, MCP, A2A, and related AI frameworks.
• Strong understanding of AI application architecture, evaluation techniques, and agentic AI patterns.
• Experience developing and deploying cloud-native applications using Kubernetes, containerization technologies, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience working with front‑end technologies and integrating AI capabilities into user‑facing applications.
• Hands‑on experience using AI‑assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or equivalent coding assistants.
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), software architecture principles, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and modern software delivery methodologies is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in global cross‑functional teams.
• Exposure to Industrial Automation, Digital Platforms, Manufacturing, Energy, or Process Industries will be an added advantage.
