Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Savli, Vadodara, India seeks an Electrical Engineer with GIS/ HV GIS expertise to lead design and procurement for GIS/PASS switchgear (145/245/420 kV). You will define designs, prepare SLDs, 3D models, BOMs, and technical particulars while coordinating with project teams.

Ideal candidates have 4–8 years in GIS engineering, strong knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards, and experience with AUTOCAD/CREO and SAP MM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 4–8 years of GIS experience.
• Familiar with IEC/IEEE/IS standards.
• Hands-on with 3D tools like AUTOCAD, CREO, and MS Office.
• Aware of SAP MM module.
• Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
• HV Substation and GIS design knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in technical kickoff handover meetings with Project Manager / Tendering.
• Read customer specifications and compliance reports.
• Define milestone deliverables (Base Design / BOM / Detail Design) as per project.
• Prepare electrical and gas SLDs, plans and section drawings.
• Create 3D models of HV GIS for substations.
• Prepare Guaranteed Technical Particulars for GIS and HV equipment.
• Deliver Detail Design tasks (rating plates, cables, earthing, civil)
• Support DtV process during base design.
• Contribute to project margin improvement.
• Ensure on-time delivery per milestone database; BOMs and SAP releases.
• Prepare procurement documents for current/voltage transformers.
• Participate in customer meetings and project reviews.
• Provide troubleshooting for factory and onsite issues.
• Perform root cause analysis for quality issues.

The opportunity

For our GIS - PASS Factory in Savli - Vadodara, India, we are looking for Electrical Engineer with expertise in the field of HV-GIS Engineering. You will join a dynamic, motivated, and creative team with a variety of experience and competencies. You will be responsible for providing the technical expertise and execute the primary engineering as the project primary lead engineer for the GIS/PASS switchgear for different voltage levels (145 KV GIS / 245 KV GIS / 420 KV GIS).

How you’ll make an impact

• Participate in the Technical Kick off handover meetings with Project Manager / Tendering
• Read through the customer specifications and compliance reports as per the customer requirements.
• Define the milestone deliverables (Base Design / BOM / Detail Design) as per the project requirement.
• Preparation of Electrical and Gas SLD, Plan and Section drawings based on various offer / tender and customer specifications.
• Preparation of 3D modelling of high voltage GIS for various substation configuration
• Preparation of Guaranteed technical particulars of GIS and HV equipment such as Breakers, disconnectors, GIB etc. for submission to customer.
• Delivering all the Detail Design Tasks (Rating plates / Cable / Earthing / Civil requirements / As Built etc)
• Execute DtV Process during the Base design phase.
• Contribute to the Margin improvement of the Project.
• Accountable for the On Quality Delivery of the milestones of the project as per the Milestone database
• Preparation of bill of materials (SD BOMs) and release in the SAP as per the Milestone database.Preparation of technical documents for procurement of Current transformers and voltage transformers.
• Participate in customer meetings as required. Active participation in project review meeting
• Supports trouble shooting for factory and onsite issues and provides disposition actions.
• Can do proper root causing analysis for the quality issues.

Your background

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 4-8 years of experience in primary design, preferably GIS Engineering.
• Knowledge on IEC/IEEE/IS standards.
• Hand on experience in 3D tools like AUTOCAD, ProE / CREO, MSOffice.
• Familiar with international standards (IEC, EN, ANSI)
• Knowledge of SAP system (MM module)
• Expertise in GIS Project execution process knowledge
• HV Substation Design knowledge
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language.
