Job summary

HITACHI ENERGY TECHNOLOGY SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED in Chennai seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead substation projects from concept to tender. You will prepare layouts, grounding and lightning designs, cable routings, BOMs and RFQs, aligned with contract specifications.

The ideal candidate has 7–12 years of experience, strong CAD skills (BIM Tools, Navisworks, AutoCAD/Revit), and knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards. Willingness to travel and work with international teams is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 7–12 years’ experience in electrical engineering projects.
• Proficiency in CAD design tools (BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, Microstation/AutoCAD, AutoCAD REVIT, 3D competence).
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and other international standards; substation tendering and project engineering.

Responsibilities

• Engineer complete substation engineering deliverables: layouts, grounding, lighting, cable routings and BOMs.
• Prepare drawings and technical documentation per contract specs.
• Vet vendor offers and support FAT/SAT activities.
• Ensure compliance with external/internal regulations and quality standards.
• Collaborate with OU Engineering team and全球 teams; site visits as needed.

Job Description:

Engineering authority for projects/tenders with low to medium complexity. Execution of complete engineering assignments on small, medium or large projects/tender cost effectively and in accordance with contract specifications and quality standards. Based on technical specification from end customers and inputs from OU Engineering team, prepare Substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design, drawings, Cable routings, Bill of materials, RFQs, vetting of vendor offers, engg hours estimation, visit to project sites, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation etc.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Primary Engineering Deliverables. Experience in handling complete Engineering deliverables for AIS & GIS projects, Exposure to International experience & Standards IEC, IEEE & AS.

• Substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design, drawings, Cable routings, Cable tray routings, Clearance drawings.

• Understanding of auxiliary design aspects of substations, such as LVAC / LVDC supplies, Cable sizing, Battery & Battery Charger Sizing, etc.

• Technical data sheets verification of primary equipment. Knowledge of primary equipment, such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, power transformers, etc.

• Vendor Offer Evaluations. FAT / SAT of primary equipment, system as and when needed.

• Technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation. Innovative ideas to reduce Engineering effort.

• Plan, implement, review and continuously improvise quality system & follow Opex initiatives.

• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• Bachelor’s or diploma degree in Electrical Engineering, with 7 - 12 years’ experience.

• Proficiency in required CAD design tools (BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, Microstation / AutoCAD, AutoCAD REVIT, 3D competence).

• Knowledge of relevant International standards ex. IEEE, IEC,etc. Knowledge in substation tendering and project engineering activities (technical & commercial).

• Individual contributor using in-depth knowledge in a specific area to execute complex or specialized projects / challenges often thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions.

• Comprehensive knowledge of related disciplines in the organization.

• Works independently, applying established standards. Dynamic and Proactive, willing to grow in the organization.

• Team player, ready to play the role across the different countries. High level of ownership.

• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
