Job summary

Hitachi ABB Power Grids is seeking a Primary Engineer for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). You will support Sales & Tendering to develop engineering documents and drawings for tender submissions, including cost calculations for GIS above 66kV.

You will work as an individual contributor, coordinating with cross-functional teams and other departments to ensure timely, compliant deliverables. A background in HV products and substations, plus CAD proficiency, is essential.

Qualifications

• Years of experience 3–8 years in Electrical & Electronics engineering.
• Good knowledge of CAD tools (Creo & AutoCAD).
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, ANSI etc. standards.
• Excellent knowledge of HV products & substations.
• Minimum 2 years of substation or HV product design (Tender or Execution).
• Team player with ability to handle sales pressure and deliver on time.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings and documents for customer submission and production for GIS above 66kV (GIS SLD, layout, earthing, cabling).
• Prepare cost estimation based on BOM generated.
• Self-review and peer review of documents.
• Coordinate with Sales Support Engineers & Area Sales Managers.
• Be strong in Design to Value (DtV) and prepare optimized solutions.
• Maintain and update project/tender documentation per quality processes.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.

Primary Engineer - Gas Insulated Switchgear

You will be a part of the GIS Primary/ Offer Engineering team. You will be supporting the Sales & Tendering engineers to develop Tender specific engineering documents and drawings for calculating right cost and drawings submission to customer as part of offer documentation. This role complete involved in Primary Engineering of Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS) of transmission and sub-transmission systems.

You will be an individual contributor who would deliver the tasks as per the given inputs and when required need to work in coordination with other colleagues and should exhibit good collaborative skills to complete the task. You may also interact with other departments like Secondary engineering, Steel structure engineering, Project Management and Production units.

How you’ll make an impact:

1. Preparation of drawings and documents for customer submission as well as production for Gas Insulated Switchgear above 66kV. The major deliverables are listed below, but not limited to a. Gas SLD, GIS Lay out, cable tray layout, earthing layout. Cabling overview and assembly overview. b. System resis tance, Thermal loss, Gas volume, Earthing mat and Cable calculations c. Bill of material calculation
2. Preparation of cost estimation based on the BOM generated.
3. Self-review & peer review of documents
4. Coordinating with the other team members , Sales Support Engineers & Area sales Managers
5. Strong in Design to value (DtV) and preparation on optimized solutions considering customer requirements Documentation:
6. Directly responsible for maintaining and updating the documentation for respective projects / Tenders as per quality process.
7. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:

1. Years of experience: 3 – 8 years with B.E / Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
2. Good knowledge in CAD tools (Creo & AutoCAD)
3. Familiarity with codes and applicable standards like IEC, IEEE, ANSI etc...
4. Excellent knowledge on high voltage products & substation
5. Minimum 2 years of Substation or High voltage product design (Tender or Execution)
6. Team player and able to handle sales pressure & prepare solutions on time.
7. Good communication and interpersonal skills
