Job summary

Hitachi Energy India in Chennai seeks a capable engineer to join the GIS Primary/Offer Engineering team. You will support sales tendering engineers to develop tender-specific engineering documents and drawings for GIS above 66kV.

You will be an individual contributor, coordinating with colleagues and other departments to complete tasks on time. You will interact with Secondary engineering, Steel structure, Project Management and Production units, aiming to deliver accurate BOMs, cost estimates

Qualifications

• BE / Diploma in Electrical Electronics Engineering.
• Good knowledge of IEC, IEEE, ANSI standards.
• Experience with high voltage substation design.
• Tender/Execution experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings and documents for tender and production for GIS above 66kV.
• Calculate system resistance, thermal loss, gas volume, earthing and cable layouts.
• Compute BOM and cost estimation.
• Self-review and peer review of documents.
• Coordinate with Sales Support and Project teams.

Job description

The opportunity:

You will be a part of the GIS Primary/ Offer Engineering team. You will be supporting the Sales Tendering engineers to develop Tender specific engineering documents and drawings for calculating right cost and drawings submission to customer as part of offer documentation. This role complete involved in Primary Engineering of Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS) of transmission and sub-transmission systems.

You will be an individual contributor who would deliver the tasks as per the given inputs and when required need to work in coordination with other colleagues and should exhibit good collaborative skills to complete the task. You may also interact with other departments like Secondary engineering, Steel structure engineering, Project Management and Production units.

How you'll make an impact:

1. Preparation of drawings and documents for customer submission as well as production for Gas Insulated Switchgear above 66kV.
2. The major deliverables are listed below, but not limited to
   • Gas SLD, GIS Lay out, cable tray layout, earthing layout. Cabling overview and assembly overview.
   • System resistance, Thermal loss, Gas volume, Earthing mat and Cable calculations
   • Bill of material calculation
3. Preparation of cost estimation based on the BOM generated.
4. Self-review peer review of documents
5. Coordinating with the other team members , Sales Support Engineers Area sales Managers
6. Strong in Design to value (DtV) and preparation on optimized solutions considering customer requirements Documentation:
7. Directly responsible for maintaining and updating the documentation for respective projects / Tenders as per quality process.
8. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:

1. Years of experience: 3 8 years with B.E / Diploma in Electrical Electronics Engineering
2. Good knowledge in CAD tools (Creo AutoCAD)
3. Familiarity with codes and applicable standards like IEC, IEEE, ANSI etc...
4. Excellent knowledge on high voltage products substation
5. Minimum 2 years of Substation or High voltage product design (Tender or Execution)
6. Team player and able to handle sales pressure prepare solutions on time.
7. Good communication and interpersonal skills
