Role Overview

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Packaging Designer with experience in the color cosmetics industry. The candidate will be responsible for developing innovative packaging designs, creating product artwork, defining colour concepts and supporting the New Product Development (NPD) team in bringing new products to life.

The role requires a strong understanding of colour combinations, cosmetic packaging aesthetics, printing techniques and current beauty industry trends.

Key Responsibilities

1. New Product Development (NPD) & Packaging Design

• Work closely with the NPD and Product Development teams to conceptualise packaging designs for new launches.
• Develop creative packaging concepts for products such as lipsticks, lip glosses, foundations, compact powders, kajal, eyeliners, mascaras, blushes and other color cosmetics.
• Translate product concepts and brand briefs into innovative packaging designs.
• Create packaging mock-ups, design layouts and visual presentations for new product launches.

2. Packaging Artwork & Graphic Design

• Develop packaging artwork, labels, cartons, product boxes and other packaging components.
• Create print-ready artwork, ensuring accuracy in dimensions, layout, typography, colours and regulatory information.
• Coordinate with vendors and printers for artwork execution, colour matching, proofs and final production approvals.
• Ensure consistency in packaging design across product ranges while maintaining brand identity.
• Develop colour stories, colour palettes and visual themes for new product launches.
• Recommend colour combinations based on product positioning, target consumers, market trends and seasonal collections.
• Define colour directions for packaging, product shades and overall product presentation.
• Work on shade representation and colour coordination across packaging and product variants.
• Ensure visual harmony between product formulation, shade range and packaging aesthetics.

4. Market Research & Trend Analysis

• Research global and Indian beauty and cosmetic packaging trends.
• Study competitor packaging, colour trends, consumer preferences and emerging design innovations.
• Bring fresh ideas and concepts to strengthen product differentiation and brand positioning.

5. Cross-functional Coordination

• Work closely with NPD, Marketing, Product Development, Sourcing and Quality teams.
• Coordinate with packaging vendors, printers and manufacturers to ensure design feasibility.
• Manage artwork revisions, sampling, colour approvals and packaging finalisation within launch timelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, Applied Arts or a related field.
• 3–6 years of experience in packaging design, preferably in color cosmetics, beauty or personal care.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and other relevant design tools.
• Strong understanding of colour theory, colour combinations, typography and visual merchandising.
• Knowledge of packaging materials, printing processes, finishes, laminations, foiling, embossing and other embellishment techniques.
• Experience in creating packaging artwork, mock-ups and print-ready files.
• Strong creative thinking, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Creative and innovative mindset.
• Strong colour sensibility and aesthetic understanding.
• Understanding of beauty and cosmetic consumer preferences.
