Job summary

Pearce Services Global (PSG) in Mohali, India is seeking a Pre field Design Engineer Specialist to perform fiber optic detailed network design for Fiber to the Home projects for AT&T. The role requires knowledge of AT&T Apex Practices and GIS-based design tools (ARC GIS / IQ GEO).

Duties include routing analysis, coordinating with fielding staff, producing final design content for field placement, and ensuring designs meet regional AT&T standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or sciences preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience in OSP fiber detailed planning.
• Knowledge/experience in ARC GIS or ARC mapping preferred.
• Experience interpreting client request and applying design standards to work product.
• Familiar with construction focused on fiber builds.
• Knowledge/experience with Web Applications and GIS design domain.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, document and adhere to Client design requirements.
• Support design team in generating detailed network drawings in GIS/IQ Geo software.
• Coordinate with the fielding team on site visit schedules and data gathering.
• Create high level preliminary route design and facility specifics for fielding requests.
• Perform detailed OSP designs adhering to AT&T design standards.
• Mentor new design team members.
• Complete designs within allocated time frames.

Job description

The Pre field Design Engineer Specialist is responsible for conducting fiber optic detailed network design for Fiber to the Home projects for AT&T. It requires an in-depth understanding of current fiber optic design standards of AT&T and its Apex Practices. It also requires a working knowledge of a GIS based design support software program (ARC GIS / IQ GEO) and close coordination with site fielding staff and graphics personnel to support the final product. Typical OSP design responsibilities range from the initial determination of the pathway routing and construction alternatives based on site walkouts to final detailed design generation. The PFD engineer is fully responsible and accountable for the final design content and document generation to support the placement of the physical fiber infrastructure in the Field according to Regional and standard Practices of AT&T.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Evaluate, document and adhere to Client design requirements.
• Support design team in generating detailed network drawings in GIS/IQ Geo software while supporting ongoing design needs.
• Coordinate with the fielding team on specific site visit schedules and data gathering requirements.
• Create high level preliminary route design and facility specifics to manage fielding request instructions.
• Perform detailed OSP designs specifically adhering to Regional and General design standards provided by AT&T.
• Support the team by participating in the mentoring of other new design team members.
• Perform design within allocated time frames.
• Provide respective lead with updates on progress and roadblocks.
• Participate in developing process improvement concepts.
• Provide detailed design in GIS/IQ based systems.
• Review designs for quality and Optimization.
• Support design via any jurisdiction permits Information and ROW/UE information.
• Understand project milestones. Monitor status of milestones and be updated with recent changes and guidelines.
