Job summary

Alten Group in India is seeking a senior Mechanical/Automotive Engineer in Chennai to lead powertrain propulsion integration across engine, transmission, e‑drive, battery, inverter, and cooling systems.

You will collaborate with CAE and thermal teams, ensure packaging and interface management across chassis, body, and electrical subsystems, and apply CATIA V5/3DExperience and Teamcenter PLM to Ford release processes.

Qualifications

• BE/ME in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with 6–8 years of experience in powertrain systems (Transmission, Air Intake, Fuel, and Cooling)
• Experience in vehicle packaging and interface management across chassis, body and electrical subsystems for propulsion components
• Strong exposure to manufacturing processes: Casting, Machining, Plastic Molding, and Sheet Metal design
• Proficient in CATIA V5/3DExperience and Teamcenter PLM for Ford release processes
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T; DMU studies and simulation tools for design validation
• Excellent cross‑functional collaboration and strong communication with global teams

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with CAE and thermal teams across global, cross‑functional and supplier networks
• Validate design rule compliance using DMU and static/dynamic simulations
• Oversee propulsion component packaging and interface management across engine, transmission, e‑drive, battery and cooling systems
• Support Ford release processes with precise CAD models and documentation

Job description

• BE/ME in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with 6 to 8 years of experience (candidates with up to 10 years of experience may also be considered) in powertrain systems (Transmission, Air Intake, Fuel, and Cooling Systems) and vehicle-level propulsion integration.
• Strong exposure to manufacturing processes: Casting, Machining, Plastic Molding, and Sheet Metal design.
• Proven experience in vehicle packaging and interface management across chassis, body, and electrical subsystems for propulsion components (engine, transmission, e-drive, battery, inverter, cooling systems).
• Working knowledge of thermal management and NVH considerations as they relate to cooling, exhaust, and airflow routing — with ability to collaborate cross-functionally with CAE and thermal teams.
• Proficient in CAD software (typically CATIA V5/3DExperience) and Teamcenter PLM for Ford release processes; strong hands-on modeling capability across Air Intake, Fuel, and Cooling system commodities.
• Deep understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
• Experience with DMU (Digital Mock-Up) studies, clearance/interference checks, and static/dynamic simulation tools to validate design rule compliance.
• Must have hands-on experience in CATIA V5/3DExperience.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global, cross-functional, and supplier teams.
