Job summary

Fractal is seeking a hands‑on Solution Architect to own end‑to‑end platform architecture across backend, frontend, AI services, and cloud infra. You will guide integrations with HRMS/ATS products and represent engineering in client discussions, shaping technical designs and realistic delivery estimates.

You will lead a scalable, secure microservices approach on AWS with multi‑cloud awareness, mentor engineers, and drive CI/CD and observability standards across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 8–14 years of software eng experience with at least 3+ years in architecture for production-scale apps.
• Proven ability to design/own backend+frontend+cloud integrations and client-facing solutioning.

Responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end architecture of the platform, including backend, frontend, data stores, and cloud infra.
• Design and evolve a scalable, secure microservices architecture on AWS (multi/all‑AWS with GCP/Azure exposure).
• Guide development of Python FastAPI AI services with OpenAI and Vapi integrations.
• Define data architecture across MongoDB/Redis for performance and cost efficiency.
• Architect real‑time features with WebSockets and async messaging (MSG91, WhatsApp).
• Lead frontend direction (Angular/TypeScript/Tailwind) and Electron desktop app; set observability standards (Grafana/Sentry).
• Manage authentication via Microsoft SSO/OIDC/SAML, and data/workflows via Microsoft Graph API.

Job Description

We are looking for a hands‑on Solution Architect to own the end‑to‑end architecture of our platform and drive its evolution as we scale. You will design, build, and maintain a multi‑service application spanning backend, frontend, AI/ML services, and cloud infrastructure, while ensuring the platform is secure, scalable, and maintainable. As we move deeper into client conversations, this role also requires you to represent engineering in client discussions and lead the design of integrations between our platform and external HRMS (Human Resource Management System) or ATS (Applicant Tracking System) products.

Role Details

• Own the technical architecture of the platform end‑to‑end, including backend services, frontend applications, data stores, and cloud infrastructure.
• Design and evolve a scalable, secure, and maintainable microservices architecture using Java and Spring Boot, deployed on AWS (with a growing footprint on GCP and Azure).
• Guide and review the development of Python FastAPI‑based AI services, including integration with OpenAI and Vapi for conversational/voice AI use cases.
• Define data architecture and access patterns across MongoDB and Redis, ensuring performance, consistency, and cost efficiency at scale.
• Architect and oversee real‑time communication features using WebSockets, and asynchronous messaging workflows via MSG91 (email/SMS) and WhatsApp.
• Set technical direction for the Angular, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS frontend, and the Electron‑based desktop application, ensuring consistency, performance, and code quality.
• Establish and enforce standards for observability and monitoring using Grafana (backend/infra) and Sentry (frontend), including alerting and incident response practices.
• Own authentication and identity architecture across Microsoft SSO and related identity providers, ensuring secure access management for enterprise clients.
• Guide secure use of Microsoft Graph API for email‑based workflows in staffing scenarios, and Judge0 for code‑execution/assessment use cases.
• Drive build vs. buy and tooling decisions, manage technical debt, and maintain architecture documentation (system diagrams, ADRs, data flow diagrams).
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines and build processes (Maven and related tooling) to support reliable, frequent releases.
• Participate in client discussions and solutioning calls, translating client requirements into technical designs and realistic delivery estimates.
• Lead the design and delivery of integrations between our platform and third‑party HRMS/ATS systems (e.g., data sync, SSO, webhooks, candidate/employee data exchange, API‑based or file‑based integrations).
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for prospective and existing clients on integration feasibility, data security, and architecture questions during pre‑sales and onboarding.
• Mentor engineers across backend, frontend, and AI teams, and conduct architecture/design reviews for major features.

Mandatory Technical Skills

Backend & Cloud

• Java and Spring Boot for building production‑grade microservices
• AWS: strong hands‑on experience across compute, storage, networking, and managed services; working knowledge of GCP and Azure is a plus (platform is moving toward a broader multi/all‑AWS setup)

• Judge0 for code execution/assessment workflows
• Microsoft Graph API for email‑specific staffing workflows
• Microsoft SSO and enterprise identity/authentication protocols (OAuth2, SAML, OIDC)
• Jupyter for prototyping and validating AI/data workflows

Mandatory Non‑Technical Skills

• Experience with additional cloud platforms (GCP, Azure) beyond AWS.
• Familiarity with conversational AI/voice bot platforms and prompt engineering for LLM‑based features.
• Exposure to DevOps practices: containerization, infrastructure‑as‑code, and CI/CD pipeline design.
• Relevant certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure/GCP equivalents) are a plus.

Education Qualification and Certifications required, If any

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8-14 years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years designing and owning system architecture for production applications at scale.
• Demonstrated experience architecting systems that combine backend services, frontend applications, cloud infrastructure, and third‑party integrations.
• Prior experience in HR‑tech, staffing, recruitment, or workforce‑management platforms is strongly preferred.
• Experience presenting technical solutions directly to clients or in pre‑sales/solutioning contexts.
• Strong understanding of security, data privacy, and compliance considerations relevant to HR/candidate data.
