October is a visual + spatial AI IDE to build apps and websites.

October also makes building apps multiplayer - for example, CEOs can build alongside engineers on a shared canvas.

The Role

Explore high-risk, high-reward technical projects that build defensible technical moats. Pure R&D focused on platform innovation. Most experiments will fail - that's the job.

What You'll Explore

• iOS Simulator streaming to canvas
• Native preview apps syncing with canvas in real-time
• Platform-specific module support (cameras, sensors, etc.)
• Goal: True native rendering vs transpiled web code

Desktop Platform:

• Terminal integration and shell access
• Full filesystem and native API access
• Offline mode with local compute

Advanced Preview Systems:

• Instant preview without server sync (<5s vs current 50s)
• WebContainers for isolated execution
• Incremental compilation and hot reload optimization
• Fine-tune models for October-specific code patterns
• Local model deployment and optimization
• Autonomous refactoring agents
• Memory architectures for long-term context
• WebGPU for accelerated rendering
• WebAssembly for performance-critical components
• Edge computing for distributed previews
• P2P architecture for collaboration

Open Exploration:

• Self-directed research on emerging technologies
• Prototype technical moats competitors can't replicate
• Build proof-of-concepts for future product directions

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of systems or platform engineering experience
• Proficiency in Rust or C++, plus at least one of TypeScript, Go, or Python
• Experience with WebAssembly, virtualization, or sandboxing technologiesHands-on experience building developer tools, bundlers, or runtime environments
• Understanding of native mobile platforms (Android, iOS), desktop frameworks (Electron, Tauri)
• Familiarity with experimental web APIs (WebGPU, WebContainers, Service Workers)
• Comfortable working in-person from our Bangalore office in a high-risk, high-reward R&D environment

Requirements

Must have:

• 7+ years engineering with deep technical expertise
• Built 0→1 prototypes that became production features
• Self-directed and entrepreneurial
• Comfortable with ambiguity and failed experiments

Ideal backgrounds:

• Virtualization or containerization tech
• Native mobile or desktop applications

Nice to have:

• Android emulator or iOS Simulator automation
• Electron or Tauri experience
• Local LLM deployment and optimization
• WebGPU or graphics programming
• Early-stage startup R&D experience

On-site, Bangalore, India 6 days/week Able to pull 60-80 hours/week during critical phases Strong fundamentals in systems programming and experimental tech

Compensation
