Job summary

eBay Bangalore is seeking a Platform Engineer to work on the Java developer platform powering REST, GraphQL, and batch traffic. You will join the Frameworks team and partner with US counterparts to deliver on the product roadmap and enhance our platform for thousands of internal applications.

Responsibilities include building and maintaining the Spring Boot framework, designing CI/CD pipelines, and driving security, scalability, and performance across development, staging, and production

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and Maven.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tooling.

Are you a skilled Java engineer with a passion for building platforms that empower other developers? The eBay Global Platform team is looking for a Platform Engineer to join our Bangalore team.

In this role, you'll be a core part of the Frameworks team, which is responsible for the Java frameworks that power all of eBay's site-facing REST, GraphQL, and Batch traffic. You'll work on features of Raptor.io, eBay's Spring Boot-based Java Developer Platform. Your "customers" will be your fellow eBay developers, and you'll play a critical role in their success.

You'll partner closely with your US-based counterparts to deliver on the product roadmap and enhance our developer platforms.

What You'll Be Doing

• Build & Deployment Automation: Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and Tekton to ensure fast, reliable, and automated software builds and deployments.
• Release Management: Coordinate software releases across multiple teams, managing dependencies and aligning with the product roadmap.
• Platform Development & Maintenance: Build, maintain, and improve our Spring Boot framework, ensuring its robust and scalable for thousands of internal applications.
• AI Powered Tooling: Identify problems and develop AI powered solutions to platform engineering problems.
• Docker & Containerization: Build and maintain optimized Docker images, run automated vulnerability scans, and manage our image repositories and registries.
• Infrastructure Management: Set up and maintain our development, staging, and production environments, and monitor system performance to ensure stability.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure the platform is secure by regularly patching images, handling sensitive data properly, and maintaining audit logs.
• Documentation & Collaboration: Document processes, guidelines, and guides for developers while collaborating with infrastructure and SRE teams.

Required Skills And Experience

• 3+ Professional experience in Java development
• Strong expertise in Maven, Spring Boot and version control systems such as Git.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Tekton.
• Strong knowledge of containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• A collaborative mindset with a desire to work with cross-functional teams.
