Job summary

FLSmidth in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, India is seeking a Plant Maintenance Engineer to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-efficient operation of plant equipment. You will drive preventive maintenance, reduce unplanned downtime, and support production targets while leading maintenance teams and managing contractor work.

You will implement TPM and reliability projects, monitor KPIs, and ensure compliance with EHS standards. This role offers a dynamic, global environment with opportunities for growth.

Plant Maintenance Engineer

Overall Responsibility

Ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of all plant equipment by driving preventive maintenance, minimizing breakdowns, improving asset performance, and supporting production targets.

Key Accountabilities

• Equipment ReliabilityMaintain high equipment availability and reliability across all production areas. Reduce unplanned downtime through preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Preventive & Predictive MaintenanceDevelop, execute, and optimize maintenance schedules. Monitor equipment health using condition-based maintenance techniques.
• Breakdown ManagementLead troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures. Implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
• Safety & ComplianceEnsure all maintenance activities comply with EHS standards and company policies. Conduct risk assessments, LOTO compliance, and permit-to-work adherence.
• Cost ControlManage maintenance budgets and optimize maintenance costs. Reduce maintenance expenditure through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Spare Parts & Inventory ManagementMaintain critical spare parts availability. Optimize inventory levels while minimizing excess stock.
• Continuous ImprovementDrive TPM, lean maintenance, and reliability improvement projects. Improve MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and reduce MTTR (Mean Time To Repair).
• Project & Contractor ManagementSupport installation, commissioning, and upgrade projects. Manage contractor performance and ensure quality execution.
• Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate maintenance records, SOPs, and equipment histories. Track and report maintenance KPIs and improvement actions.
• Team DevelopmentCoach and develop maintenance technicians. Build technical capability and promote a proactive maintenance culture.
