Responsibilities

  • Purpose of the Role - To drive plant production and manage resources efficiently to achieve objectives.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Purpose of the Role - To drive plant production and manage resources (material and workforce) efficiently to achieve plant objectives while adhering to all production, quality, cost, safety and regulatory guidelines
  • Key Responsibilities - List of responsibilities attached to the role are documented below. These responsibilities are representative and the role holder is also responsible for any other job assigned by the superior authorities from time to time.   • Responsibilities -
  • Functional Planning and Strategy -
  • Provide inputs in creation of the plant's short and long term strategy in adherence to Business and Segment Level Asset Ops Strategy, and develop plans for production department in alignment with plant objectives
  • Collaborate with Business & Segment leadership to identify new initiatives/ projects within production and set operational plans that meet these future demands
  • Review the technology and engineering roadmap for the plant, provide inputs from manufacturing point of view and align own plans as per requirement
  • Oversee deployment of own budget and ensure efficient utilization and minimum variance in target v/s actual
  • Operations -
  • Review production plan, prepare monthly/ weekly plan based on resources and current scenario, guide team to execute plan and track production status to intervene and guide team in case of deviations.
  • Direct the team to achieve production excellence in terms of reduction in quality related issues, wastage and quicker turn around time
  • Conduct weekly/biweekly review with team to discuss product status, critical interventions taken and deviations from the weekly plans
  • Lead material coordination and purchase of chemicals, catalyst and consumables for the plant as per schedule
  • Review preventive maintenance and provide feedback to maintenance team to ensure equipment uptime
  • Analyse periodic production related MIS reports such as in progress production, inventory, actual vs. planned production data, production levels across all product categories, etc. and take corrective actions as per requirement
  • Monitor OMPRO and other critical KPI' s and Ensure correction of key repetitive process deviations through root cause analysis and effective action planning
  • Lead the shutdown planning process at the plant and ensure implementation of operational discipline and HSEF procedures on the plant floor
  • Identify issues jointly with quality, CES, EHS, and Technology teams, collect inputs and devise solutions to implement measures to enhance production process
  • Workplace Safety & Environment -
  • Review production related safety, fire and environmental processes and compliance norms and ensure all operations are aligned with the same in order to provide safe working environment to all plant personnels
  • Monitor and control any fire, leak, spillage or safety incident which may potentially lead to injury or loss of production, and take appropriate action to mitigate such risks
  • Periodically Review cases of any potential safety, fire and environmental issues/ hazards, identify root cause , take appropriate steps to mitigate any challenges and ensure the identified process barriers are maintained. Provides input to plant manager for periodic update of plant Risk register
  • Investigate key safety incidents along with Safety teams, draft action plans and implement the same to ensure non-recurrence
  • Track all compliance/ legal norms and documentations required from safety, fire and environmental point of view and ensure up to date filing of the same
  • Align production processes to all environmental related objectives and ensure contribution to overall organizational environmental commitments
  • Support emergency operations in case of any safety or fire incidents, and coordinate with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure quick closure
  • Compliance & Audits-
  • Participate in internal and external audits, discuss observations with various teams and implement correction measures as finalized
  • Ensure implementation of PSM / safety audit recommendations with respect to operations
  • Support the Plant Head in ensuring compliance and improvements to norms and standards
  • Conduct risk assessment of one time and non-routine activities, identify potential risks and draft action plans.
  • Policies, Processes and Procedures -
  • Implement approved policies, processes, procedures created by the plant head and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures taking into account leading practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement in the area of production
  • Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures
  • People Management-
  • Participate in recruitment activities & ensure retention / engagement of own team
  • Set performance objectives of own team, evaluate / appraise team members and provide regular feedback & guidance
  • Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities
  • Evaluate training and development requirements for own team and make recommendations for learning interventions
  • Ensures validation and supports verification of CAS of Field executives, Panel enigineer, Shift engineer and Shift Incharge aganst defined task tests
Education Requirement:
  • Necessary: - Bachelors degree in Engineering/Technology (Chemical / Petrochemical/ Polymer) Or Diploma Chemical in chemical engg
Experience Requirement:
  • Necessary: - 5-9 years of experience with significant experience in combined cycle gas or liquid fuel power plant; Diploma holders should have higher (15 ~ 18 years) relevant experience
